LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise recently hosted a star-studded Scientology gala, and it has been speculated that John Travolta, 69, may be moving away from the contentious religion.
"Tom Cruise made a grand entrance by helicopter, but John — despite being a pilot with his own plane — opted not to come, leaving attendees puzzled," an insider sniped to the National Enquirer.
John Travolta has distanced himself from Scientology
A close confidant of Travolta asserted he has distanced himself from the religious organization.
"His level of involvement has waned since the passing of his wife, Kelly Preston, and close friend Kirstie Alley," the pal told the outlet.
"Despite their devout following of Scientology, it tragically didn't save them," as reported by RadarOnline.
After a two-year, covert battle with breast cancer, Preston died on July 12, 2020, at her Clearwater, Florida, home. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Travolta declared her death.

Alley died in Tampa, Florida, on December 5, 2022, as reported by RadarOnline.com, following a quiet fight with colon cancer. Once more, Travolta honored a loved one on social media.
She told Howard Stern years before her death, "First of all, I just want everyone to know I have hundreds of friends and people that I know that have come into Scientology and left Scientology,"
She added, "It is not true that you cannot [leave] … You're not shunned, you're not chased. All that stuff's bull----."
