The A-list actor also spoke about his “deep friendship” with film producer Jerry Bruckheimer during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Johnny Depp hints at possible Captain Jack Sparrow return
When Depp was asked to respond to Bruckheimer's comments that he wanted to work with him on the next 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film, he replied, “If things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they are going to top off the Pirates thing, the only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note.”

The 'Edward Scissorhands' star also noted that he “will go to work with [Jerry] Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything. Doesn’t matter… if it’s Jerry, I trust him. We have a deep friendship.”
Depp last appeared as Captain Jack Sparrow in 2017's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'.
Jerry Bruckheimer reveals condition for Johnny Depp's comeback
Last year, while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Bruckheimer shared that he had spoken with Depp about his possible return to the franchise.
“If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it. It's all about what's on the page, as we all know,” the 83-year-old said.
In 2024, Bruckheimer had also noted, “It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it. I love him. He's a good friend. He's an amazing artist, and he's a unique look. He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page; that was him doing a little Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow.”

“We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven't quite gotten there yet, but we're close,” he added at the time.
Johnny Depp wanted a proper ending for Pirates franchise
Depp was reportedly dropped from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise after his former wife, Amber Heard, accused him of domestic abuse in a December 2018 op-ed that did not name him.
Depp, a Golden Globe Award winner, denied the allegations and sought $50 million in damages.

During the trial, Depp said, “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye. There’s a way to end a franchise like that… I planned on continuing until it was time to stop."
