LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith, maintained a post-Christmas tradition during the first holiday season since the death of her husband.

Meredith reposted a picture on her Instagram story from a night out with Drey Severson, wife of Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Damon Severson on December 26, according to US Weekly.

Meredith Gaudreau maintains post-Christmas tradition without late husband Johnny

Meredith Gaudreau captioned the picture, "Dec 26 tradition (heart emoji)" which showed a fancy dinner table and a bottle of wine. Drey, who married Damon in 2022, posted the original picture from their evening on the town and wrote, "Favorite Columbus Tradition that won’t be broken."

Notably, Damon and Johnny were teammates during the 2023-2024 season after Severson was traded to the Blue Jackets in June 2023 after spending the first nine seasons of his NHL career with the New Jersey Devils, per the outlet.

Moreover, Meredith’s post-Christmas celebrations also included some quality time with her sister, Lily, who posted a video of her sister and Johnny’s 2-year-old daughter, Noa, munching a huge sandwich and captioned the Instagram story "Our cheesesteak girlie."

Meredith and the children got a visit from Johnny and Matthew’s parents, Guy and Jane on Christmas day. Johnny’s youngest sister, Katie, posted via Instagram Story on December 25, "John is happy mom and dad stopped to give the babies and Mer some lovin. The best mom-mom and pop-pop."

She shared a photo of Jane holding Noa and Guy holding baby Johnny, both kids asleep, while they smiled for the camera.

Lily Morris pays tribute to Johnny Gaudreau

Lily Morris, Johnny Gaurdeau's sister-in-law, wrote a heartfelt homage on Instagram after the athlete and his 29-year-old brother Matthew perished in a bike accident on August 29, according to People.

She posted a series of photos and wrote in the caption, "I love you, John. You are and always will be my amazing brother. Cannot put into words how grateful I am to have spent the last year living with you. Best decision I’ve ever made. Nothing I wouldn’t do to have one more day of baking you cookies, watching a crime documentary, and having a sauna jam sesh together."

She continued, "I’ll see you again for more deal or no deal and word search races that I will never beat you in. I promise to take care of your babies and Mer forever."

The pictures in the post included a selfie in which the two of them were seen grinning, some shots from Johnny Gaudreau and his wife Meredith's wedding, and a few that showed Johnny spending time with his kids on the ice and on a sunny day by the water, per the outlet.

She also shared a video of Johnny kicking about a towel during a soccer match on her Instagram Stories, and referred to him as "the definition of a good time."

Meredith also paid tribute to her late husband and her brother-in-law in an Instagram post where she wrote in the caption, "John and Matty. U don’t hear one name without the other. Always side by side. Even in large group settings, u can find them hip to hip. John’s younger brother- but he looked up to Matty and relied on him for everythinggg. She described the siblings as "absolute best friends and biggest fans of each other despite polar opposite personalities."

She added, "Everyone wanted to be around them, including me. I would sit back and watch John genuinely love his time with his brother."
