LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On a recent episode of 'The Daily Show', host Jon Stewart took aim at Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) for his glaringly inconsistent messages on unity and division.

This criticism came in the wake of Johnson’s controversial speech at the Republican National Committee (RNC), which Stewart highlighted as a stark contrast to the senator’s earlier calls for national healing.

In his segment, Stewart began by showcasing a series of clips that portrayed Republican leaders calling for unity. One notable clip featured Johnson advocating for a period of "healing and unity," stating, “Let’s turn this moment into a moment that helps us down that path of healing and unity.”

Stewart’s response was a mix of mock admiration and incredulity. “Wow,” he exclaimed, feigning tears of joy. “That is Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. He is known as a particularly divisive, divisive, or however you want to pronounce that, a divisive figure, so to hear that healing rhetoric coming from Ron Johnson is impressive. I, for one, look forward to hearing his unifying remarks on the convention floor.”

The tone of Stewart’s commentary took a sharp turn as he played a clip from Johnson’s RNC speech, in which the senator described the “Democrat agenda” as “a clear and present danger to America.” This declaration, Stewart argued, stood in stark opposition to Johnson’s previous calls for unity.

Stewart couldn’t resist a biting jab, quipping, “I guess he’s what’s known as unity in the streets, divisive in the sheets.”

Jon Stewart criticizes Ron Johnson blaming teleprompter for inflammatory rhetoric

Further intensifying his critique, Stewart showcased a follow-up clip in which Johnson attempted to shift blame for his inflammatory rhetoric onto his teleprompter. Johnson claimed, “My teleprompter displayed the wrong speech,” an excuse that Stewart gleefully seized upon.

“What a douchebag!” Stewart exclaimed in response. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that, that was in my teleprompter. I apologize.”

Internet reacts to Jon Stewart’s critique of Ron Johnson

The reaction to Jon Stewart’s recent critique of Senator Ron Johnson was as diverse as it was passionate.

One user wrote, "Ron Johnson is a deplorable piece of garbage."

Another user added, "Really weird how the failed assassin had no internet footprint...Another Audrey Hale cover up from the Biden regime?"

One commented, "Johnson is correct. Many Democrats and especially liberals are a danger to America."

One said, "He's just pointing out Johnson's hypocrisy, that's all."

One added, "Johnson is 100% accurate....I'm old enough to remember when Democrats doubled down on hate after George Floyd OD'd on drugs and resisted arrest."
