Joni Mitchell disses Donald Trump at Hollywood Bowl performance
Following her performance of her 1985 hit song 'Dog Eat Dog', which is about powerful people who "lie, cheat, skim, scam" and the line about "big-wig financiers," Mitchell took a jibe at Trump.
She named the former president as she sang a line about "snakebite evangelists and racketeers and bigwig financiers." She added, "Like Donald Trump."
After completing her performance, an audience member made a derogatory remark about Trump that caught Mitchell's attention.
The seasoned multi-instrumentalist artist laughed at the remark and mentioned American rapper YG's 2016 protest song 'FDT', which criticized Trump's politics and presidential campaign.
“F**k Donald Trump!” Mitchell addressed the audience, before adding, “I love that song.”
After her performance, she urged the audience to "get out and vote," and reportedly repeated her earlier statement regarding the Republican presidential candidate.
“Everybody get out and vote. This is an important one. I wish I could vote – I’m Canadian. I’m one of those lousy immigrants,” she addressed the crowd of 17,000 people, who responded with a standing ovation, reported the Daily Mail.
Joni Mitchell trolled for criticizing Donald Trump
As soon as Joni Mitchell's criticism of Donald Trump went viral, supporters of the GOP presidential nominee took to Facebook and began to troll the Canadian singer.
One user wrote on Facebook, "Mind your biz sister."
Another suggested, "Stick to music."
A Trump fan commented, "Keep you opinions to your echo chamber. People pay to see you sing not be lectured in politics. If they wanted that they'd go where that is. Not everyone who likes her music is a hardened extreme leftist."
Another remarked, "Some people will be offended by that. Donald Trump is not against legal immigrants, how can he be? This is where these idiots narrative falls to bits."
"I don't think anyone is against legal and certified immigration where you are vetted on your skill set and what you can bring to the countries economy, instead people are against folk coming and being a huge strain and burden on the country including crime. The left need to get that into their very thick skulls," they added.
On X, one person suggested, "She needs to do the same in her own country... f**k @PierrePoilievre."
