'That was Biden's job': Josh Shapiro slammed as he calls out CNN for excusing Trump's lies during debate
WASHINGTON, DC: Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro chastised CNN on Friday, June 28, for failing to highlight remarks made by former president Donald Trump during their debate with President Joe Biden.
"Frankly, I think CNN could have a done a better job in calling [Trump's] lies out," said Shapiro, who has been nudged by some columnists as a front-runner to unseat Biden, reported Fox News.
Gov Josh Shapiro admits Joe Biden 'had a bad debate night'
"Joe Biden had a bad debate night, but Donald Trump was a bad president," Josh Shapiro told CNN. "I'll be the first to admit that that was not a good look in that debate last night."
Shapiro was then asked by CNN host John Berman if Biden was "capable" of spearheading the effort to defeat Trump in November 2024.
"He is," Shapiro said. "Certainly, we need to be crisper in delivering that message and the president has a responsibility to do that along with the rest of us."
"Have they explained to you — the Biden campaign — what happened and why?" Berman asked. "Well, I think the Biden campaign should speak for themselves," Shapiro said.
Gov Josh Shapiro refused to answer if he's willing to replace Joe Biden as leading Democrat candidate
In addition, Josh Shapiro declined to discuss with John Berman whether he could usurp Biden as the front-runner for the Democratic Party.
"Do you think you could beat Donald Trump in a general election?" Berman asked Shapiro. "I‘m not going to engage in that hypothetical," the governor responded. "I'm all in."
Gov Josh Shapiro didn't disclose the response he got from his allies following the Biden-Trump debate
Josh Shapiro declined to provide John Berman with the precise messages that he received in response to Joe Biden's debate performance from friends and confidants.
"The bottom line here is that there is a clear contrast in this race, and we have a responsibility to prosecute the case against Donald Trump, not get caught up in any hand-wringing right now, stop worrying and start working," the governor told Berman.
CNN poll declares Donald Trump as the clear winner in the debate
After Thursday night's presidential debate, CNN conducted a flash poll, which revealed Donald Trump to be ahead of Joe Biden.
The CNN poll posted on air showed that 67 percent of debate watchers felt that Trump won the debate compared to 33 percent who believed Biden won.
Internet pans Gov Josh Shapiro on calling out CNN for not highlighting Donald Trump's lies
Netizens enshrouded the Pennsylvania Governor with criticisms after he tried to hide Joe Biden's incapability by calling out the pro-left CNN network for not shedding light on Donald Trump's blatant lies he said during the debate.
"Coming from a Governor that committed election fraud in 2020...," an X (previously Twitter) user penned.
Another added, "Boy am I glad I moved out of Pennsylvania."
"And Biden's lies? Come on Shapiro, doesn't he know that we the people know that they both lie," remarked one.
Someone else said, "What a laugh. Brandon couldn’t even remember the lies he was supposed to say."
"The only LIAR in the debate was BIDEN!!!!" echoed one as another reminded, "That was Bidens job."
