WASHINGTON, DC: Michelle Obama has privately expressed her displeasure with the Bidens regarding the way her friend Kathleen Buhle was treated following her divorce from Hunter Biden.

According to a new report, the former first lady is coy to openly campaign for the president as a result of it.

Michelle and Kathleen became friends during Barack Obama's administration, when Joe Biden served as his vice president, and they have stayed in touch ever since.

Hunter and Kathleen got divorced in 2017 after parting ways in 2015.

In her autobiography 'If We Break', Kathleen described how his adultery and addictions destroyed their marriage, and how she was "largely exiled" from the family following their breakup, per Axios.

Biden family was reportedly irked by Kathleen Buhle's book

The report claims that despite Kathleen Buhle's autobiography being published a year after Hunter Biden's 2021 memoir 'Beautiful Things', which explored his addiction problems, the Biden family was miffed by it.

The outlet also revealed in 2017 that Obama was present at a fundraiser for the children's advocacy organization Beau Biden Foundation in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hunter Biden, who had recently divorced, was dating Hallie Biden, the late brother's widow, at the time.

Obama called the dynamics on display "weird s**t," though he has since refuted this claim, said a source, according to the outlet.

Michelle Obama privately told others she felt Kathleen Buhle had been wronged

Michelle Obama has not been outspoken during Joe Biden's reelection campaign against former President Donald Trump, but she did privately inform others that she believed Buhle had been mistreated following the breakdown of their marriage.

She still actively works with a group that promotes voter registration.

Michelle Obama was 'initially reluctant' to campaign for Joe Biden in 2020

As per the outlet, the former First Lady was also "initially reluctant" to support Joe Biden during his initial 2020 campaign, but she ultimately did and gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention.

There have been talks about her joining the campaign trail to support Biden, even though there has been talk of a strained relationship. Democrats generally consider Michelle to be a formidable political force, and her approval ratings have been consistently high.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden appeared at a glitzy fundraiser together earlier this month

The families are still politically united with Barack Obama and Joe Biden attending a posh fundraiser together earlier this month, and it's obvious that they oppose Donald Trump, even though the dynamic between the families shifted in 2015 when Obama dissuaded Biden from seeking the presidency, paving the way for eventual nominee Hillary Clinton.

Obama's team has emphasized that part of the reason was to check on Biden, who was grieving the loss of his son Beau that year.

The White House voice denies any tension between the Obamas and Bidens

The White House pushed back on the Axios report in a statement to Fox News.

"The Biden and Obama families are like family to each other, and whomever made these claims about that relationship isn’t familiar with it," White House spokesman Andrew Bates said. "The former President and First Lady have been two of the strongest supporters of President Biden’s leadership and agenda."

Michelle Obama's spokesperson also responded to the report

Michelle Obama's representative addressed the report and mentioned that First Lady Jill Biden had traveled to Michelle's mother Marian Robinson's memorial service this week, in a statement to Fox News.

"Mrs. Obama has already said she supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign," said the former First Lady's communications director, Crystal Carson.

"She is friends with Kathleen and with the Bidens... On Monday, Dr. Biden graciously joined the family to celebrate the life of Mrs. Marian Robinson," she added.
