LEHIGH COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA: A man from Lehigh County has been charged with the murder of his roommate, whom he allegedly killed using a hammer, dismembered, and then dispersed the remains across three different locations.

Joshua Moser, 33, has been arrested and charged with the murder of 37-year-old David Hittinger from Slatington, Pennsylvania.

Joshua Moser confessed killing David Hiitinger

The investigation commenced on May 13 at approximately 1:30 pm, following a missing person report filed with the Pennsylvania State Police for Hittinger, who was last seen or contacted on May 11 at about 7 pm.

Subsequently, investigators discovered that Moser had lately given Hittinger permission to reside with him at his Slatington home on the 600 block of West Franklin Street.

State troopers executed the search warrant at the residence. According to the criminal complaint, during the search they found a sizable amount of blood in the basement.

The investigators claimed that the basement had been "hastily staged" in order to conceal the blood, according to NBC News.

The next day, May 15, investigators spoke with Moser. Moser allegedly confessed during the interview to killing Hittinger by strangling him and hitting him over the head with a hammer in the home's basement.

Investigators discovered David Hittinger's severed body parts in trash bags

The criminal complaint stated that Moser then dismembered Hittinger's body at the residence and dumped his body parts in three different places in Slatington Borough and Washington Township.

According to authorities, during their search, investigators discovered severed body parts in trash bags. A fingerprint on a severed hand led investigators to conclude that Hittinger was the victim, as stated in the criminal complaint.

Following his arrest, Moser was accused of criminal homicide, abusing a corpse, and falsifying or tampering with physical evidence.

The Lehigh County Coroner and police were spotted on Thursday, May 16, along the D&L Trail in Slatington as well as an old quarry about a mile away, directly behind Northern Lehigh High School.

The criminal complaint did not specify the precise locations where the body parts were found.
