HOUSTON, TEXAS: Legendary rock band Journey had to abruptly cancel the set at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Friday, March 14, following an "electrical incident."

The band was performing their iconic hit 'Don’t Stop Believin' when the stage at NRG Stadium suddenly went dark.

Social media videos captured the moment when the power cut out during the song, leaving the audience singing along before realizing something had gone wrong.

The band was in the middle of performing 'Don’t Stop Believin' when the sound cut off, and the projector screens went dark.

Pineda had just reached the second verse of the song when the speakers stopped working.

Fans initially continued singing, but the atmosphere shifted when crew members hurried to the stage with fire extinguishers.

KHOU reported that the incident forced the band to leave the stage immediately after crew members were seen rushing onto the stage with fire extinguishers.

Electric fire incident occurred 'under the stage'

RodeoHouston soon announced the show's cancellation and attributed the problem to an electrical fire.

"Due to an unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area, we regretfully announce the cancelation of tonight's Journey concert," RodeoHouston stated on X.

"We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and refunds as soon as possible."

Internet laments abrupt end to Journey concert

The unexpected turn of events left concertgoers stunned

"I have been going to the rodeo since I was a child. I can't even count the number of concerts my family & I have been to & never has anything like this happened. I feel so bad for Journey they were giving us an awesome show & to have it end like this...sad," wrote one user on X.

"Yall. My experience was the same. I cannot believe DONT STOP BELIEVING was the moment the lights went out lol. Power outage. Fire under the stage. INSANE," wrote another user on X.

Some attendees also mentioned other issues at the venue. "There was a freaking fire below stage," said another X user.

One more wrote, "A pipe busted on the first level spilling sewage on people too! Def needs some repairs."
