NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sterling K Brown appeared as a guest for the first time on the January 8 episode of 'Good Morning America' to discuss his critically acclaimed film 'American Fiction.'

The movie has already created a buzz in Hollywood, said co-host Robin Roberts, to which Brown humbly replied, "It's a good movie."

"It's a good movie with a great cast," he continued.

"We got the amazing Jeffrey Wright and Erika Alexander, Tracee Ellis Ross, the legendary Leslie Uggams… It is such a wonderful joy to be a part of a film that has this incredible Black ensemble, telling a story that we don't normally get to see told in Hollywood."

Sterling Brown was more than eager to get a role in the film

Co-host George Stephanopoulos stated that the 47-year-old actor "did not hesitate at all" to sign on the film. "You were on a plane, you read the script, you called your agent," he told Brown inquiringly.

"That is exactly right. I said, 'How can I be down?'" he responded. "Every once in a while you see - sometimes the part isn't that big… - I don't care. What the movie has to say about representation and this media means so much that if I can get in there in any kind of way, shape, form or fashion, I'm there."

"Good for you," exclaimed Roberts off-screen before a clip from the film was played.

Sterling Brown wants to play the lead in a classic rom-com

"I would love a rom-com," he said in response to Roberts' question on the subject.

Sharing that both he and his wife love the genre, he noted a few examples, such as, 'There's Something About Mary,' and 'When Harry Met Sally.'

"They don't make enough of them right now," complained Brown. "Like they used to be done all the time in the early '90s … and they've sort of gone away."

"I would love to be a dashing, charming guy who got, like, splashed by water by the cab, and then he dries himself up and haphazardly falls into love. Like, it's a good time," he exclaimed.

Roberts then assured the actor that he was sure to score the part if he were auditioning that day.
