During a recent interview with Stellar Magazine per Daily Mail, the ‘OMG Fashun’ actress mourned that it was her short-lived relationship with the ‘Heartless’ rapper that left her “scarred” for life and defined her perception of dating publicly.
She further claimed that because of that relationship, she is not looking forward to dating someone soon and added, men are "an obstacle I have to get through."
She explained, "What I find happens so often in public relationships – at least what happened to me, and maybe I'm just scarred from it – is that you become known as that person's girlfriend.”
She further added, "And I just don't want to uphold that. I want to be able to make it on my own. I don't want anyone to be able to attribute my success to a man in my life."
"If anything, men are an obstacle I have to get through. It has never helped me," added the 34-year-old actress.
Julia Fox says her relationship with Kanye West left ‘sour taste’ in her mouth
Recently, in another interview with InStyle per The Independent, the actress opened up about the same and claimed the relationship left a "sour taste" in her mouth.
She named West - who often receives internet flak for his wife Bianca Censori's provocative dressing - further in the interview when she was asked to share about a way she is perceived that “doesn’t go away.”
Fox explained, “Dating that man for a month - one month,” before adding, “And that’s why I have such a sour taste in my mouth about dating anyone in this sphere.”
She further added that the relationship with West also made her realize her self-worth, saying, “Because I don’t ever want to just be known as someone’s girlfriend. I know I’m so much more than that.”
“And I feel like that happens so much to women in this industry. They’re only as good as their partner or they can make a whole career off being some guy’s partner,” added the actress.
Fox further added passionately that she wanted to make her own identity without needing any man to “back her.”
She noted, “I want to just stand on my own two feet and not need a man to back me.”
Fox added, “I did that for years. I’m good. I have established myself, and I want to keep establishing myself. And maybe one day I’ll even be taken seriously.”
