Julian Ortega, who starred in Netflix's ‘Elite’, dies at 41 after collapsing on beach in Spain

BARBATE, SPAIN: Julian Ortega, who starred in the popular Netflix series ‘Elite’ died at the age of 41.

The actor collapsed on Zahora Beach in Barbate, Spain, on Sunday evening, August 25.

How did Julian Ortega die?

The lifeguard services present at the scene confirmed that he went into cardiac arrest and wasn’t drowned as earlier speculated. 

"From the Unión de Actores y Actrices, we send our most sincere condolences to the actor's family and friends," according to a statement by Spain's national union of actors and actresses.

“I am broken with pain, dear colleague… what a great actor and what a beautiful person you are, Julian Ortega… fly high, hugs to your father and mother," Spanish actor Fernando Tejero wrote.

He was joined by fellow actress Silvia Marso. "My friend @lauracepedagolferichs just called me to give me the bad news that Julian Ortega Rodriguez has passed away, a tremendous actor and a colleague of integrity, honesty and as good a person as his parents Gloria Muñoz and Jose Antonio Ortega," she said.

She continued, “I can’t even imagine how these parents, colleagues, so beloved in the profession, are. How horrible… I can’t take it in. Absolute sadness."

Ortega was also known for her performances in other shows including '4 Estrellas,' 'The Countryside,' 'Untameable' and 'La sue se Avecina.'

His most recent appearance was in the Eva Longoria Apple TV+ series 'Land of Women,' reports Sun US.
