LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Bieber captured the fans’ collective awe when he not only participated in a charity hockey game but also threw down the gauntlet (albeit jokingly) with NFL legend Jeremy Roenick.

On Sunday, February 23, Bieber participated in the charity event, titled Skate For LA Strong in Los Angeles, California, to help the victims of the Los Angeles wildfire.

As the Canadian native chose to represent the Team Black, the 55-year-old former NHL star played for the Team Red in the charity event.

Amid multiple speculations regarding the 30-year-old singer’s health and drug abuse, Justin Bieber appeared in a good mood on Sunday as he joked around with retired ice hockey center Mark Messier and got into a half-hearted brawl with Jeremy Roenick, per Daily Mail.

While the duo’s exchange inside the field might look like a serious brawl at first glance, a deeper look would prove that the fight was an innocent jest, carried in good faith. Roenick started the fight against the ‘Baby’ singer when Bieber threw some body blows that did not connect with the longtime center.

Nevertheless, soon, the duo was separated and they went their separate directions.

Prior to the game, Bieber gushed about the charity event, as he said, per Daily Mail, “We're looking to have a good time and show when we come together, good things happen.”

Bieber and Roenick were, however, not the only celebrity pair to drop the gloves. Former 'Suits' actor Ben Hollingsworth also appeared to have come to blows with former league defender PK Subban during the on-ice exhibition.

However, the outlet reported that their altercation looked less staged than Bieber and Roenick’s, and their bout started like any of the normal NHL fights.

Roenick, who scored two goals to lead Team Red to victory, shared after the match, “This was an amazing celebration of hockey and first responders. It was a lot of fun, seeing everyone that showed up and some of the LA firefighters playing was a good feeling.”

While his team was coached by actors Vince Vaughn and Cobie Smulders, the three other teams of the four-team exhibition tournament were coached by Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg; Danny DeVito and Al Michaels; and Hannah Stocking and Andrew Whitworth.

Justin Bieber’s participation in the tournament also did not come as a surprise as the ‘Never Say Never’ singer has been a long fan of ice hockey.

The tournament also came at the heels of his publicist’s statement denying the rumors of Bieber using hard drugs amid the mounting concerns about his gaunt looks among fans.

The publicist said in a statement to TMZ, “The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true,” before adding that the past year had been “very transformative” for the ‘Beauty and a Beat’ singer.

They continued that in the last year, the new father has also “ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.”

Social media users enjoy friendly squabble

While the live spectators of the match were, undoubtedly, left entertained at the friendly fracas in the middle of the game, social media users also enjoyed the moment.

One of the social media users said, "Making it fun for the crowd !!! love jb."

"Didn’t have this on my list of tweets I could possibly read one day. 😂," said someone else.

Another fan noted, "The fake fights were funny lol. too bad our goalie was terrible 😭😭."

"He's so funny 😂😂😂," chimed in someone else.

Another fan noted, "Bieber is a chad🤣."

Someone else noted on an Instagram video, "Wonder if they were in a group chat preparing??"
