Justin Trudeau shows off dancing skills in girlfriend Katy Perry's viral TikTok video

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise appearance in girlfriend Katy Perry’s TikTok on Thursday, July 9, promoting her new song, 'Watch It Burn', during the European leg of her "Out of Office" summer tour.

The brief cameo comes as the couple continues to make headlines with their relationship, following their recent red carpet debut, reports that they are blending their families, and Perry's remarks about feeling more loved.

The TikTok, filmed in Germany, features Perry wearing a polka-dot romper, black lugged loafers and white thigh-high socks as she enthusiastically hops up and down between several tour buses at sunset while lip-syncing to 'Watch It Burn', which was released on June 25.

Several members of her production team hop in circles behind her, moving from one side of the screen to the other. Amid the playful choreography, Trudeau unexpectedly hops into the frame with his arms by his side and a smile on his face.

Perry steps back from the camera to dance alongside him, leaning in for a brief shimmy before Trudeau quickly exits the frame in what becomes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. 

The appearance comes one month after Perry performed the pre-game opening show at the FIFA World Cup opening match between the US and Paraguay on June 12. He also made headlines at the time for skipping Canada’s World Cup opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in favour of supporting Perry at Los Angeles Stadium.

Shortly after the World Cup performance, the couple was spotted enjoying a PDA-filled picnic in California. Perry and Trudeau began dating in July 2025 and have since fueled speculation that they are planning to move in together.

In June, a source close to the couple told Us Weekly that their relationship had become increasingly serious and that they were blending their families. “Things between Katy and Justin are very serious,” the insider reportedly said.

“After her split from Orlando, Katy really wasn’t expecting to jump into another relationship anytime soon, but Justin completely caught her by surprise. He came into her life at the right time, and they have developed a really strong connection,” the tipster added. 

According to the source, her five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, whom she shares with ex-fiance Orlando Bloom, has been introduced to Trudeau’s three children, Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien, whom he shares with ex-wife Sophie Trudeau.

“Their relationship has deepened over the past several months, and they are about to celebrate their one-year anniversary,” the source further shared. “They both feel it’s important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.”

On June 8, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival for the premiere of Perry’s concert film. Speaking with former PEOPLE staffer Tomas Mier, she reflected on how the tour had changed her relationship with Trudeau.

“I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life,” she said, adding, “I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite.”
