Xavier Trudeau says Katy Perry makes his dad happy
Xavier, the eldest son of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire, opened up about his father’s relationship during an appearance on the 'Can’t Be Censored' podcast.
Rather than getting caught up in public chatter, he chose a more personal perspective.
“She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy, so that’s important,” he said.
For Xavier, the headlines and attention surrounding the relationship don’t seem to matter much. He explained that seeing pictures of his father with Katy Perry feels no different than seeing family photos from the past.
“It’s just like any other picture of my dad and my mom or just my dad,” he said, brushing off the buzz around the couple.
Xavier Trudeau opens up on life in spotlight
Growing up in the spotlight hasn’t always been easy, and Xavier admitted that his life can sometimes feel overwhelming.
“My life is so crazy sometimes,” he said candidly. “Sometimes I just sit there, and I’m staring at the ceiling like, ‘What is my life?’ What the hell?’ I just laugh.”
Despite the chaos, he has come to accept it. “The reality of it is, it's my life. What can I do? What can I change?” he added. His comments reflect a sense of maturity as he navigates both public scrutiny and his own path as an emerging artist.
Katy Perry guides Xavier Trudeau’s music career
Beyond family dynamics, Xavier also revealed that his relationship with Katy Perry has grown into something more meaningful, especially when it comes to his music career.
Performing under the name Xav, the young artist has already begun carving out his own space in the industry and is not shy about turning to Perry for guidance.
“When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her],” he shared. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
He first hinted at their bond earlier this year, describing how they connected over music. “We talked for hours, talking about my music,” he said in a previous interaction. “She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
