Kacey Musgraves reveals how her brave dog Pepper saved her life in encounter with rattlesnake
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kacey Musgraves is expressing gratitude for her heroic dog, Pepper, who recently saved her from a rattlesnake encounter.
On October 27, Musgraves shared via Instagram Stories that Pepper, an Australian cattle dog, was recovering at home after being bitten by a timber rattlesnake during a walk.
Musgraves noted that Pepper “had honestly saved” her from stepping on the snake while she was barefoot, as reported by US Weekly.

"Copperhead: 1, Pepper: 0,” she quipped, revealing that she rushed Pepper to the vet for antivenom treatment. The singer described her dog as unusually lethargic post-bite, saying, “Those who have Blue Heelers know they ain’t ever this calm.”
Pepper was still taking it easy. "She’s home and sleeping a lot / on pain meds and getting lots of love,” Musgraves shared alongside a collection of photos showing Pepper resting on a bed.
The Grammy-winning artist also expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank goodness for wonderful dogs.”
In her updates, Musgraves shared photos of Pepper resting at home with an IV, stating that she was on pain medication and receiving plenty of love. She also included a snapshot from the vet's office, showing bruising in Pepper’s mouth and neck as a result of the bite.
She shared a photo that appeared to be taken at the vet’s office, showing someone holding Pepper's mouth open to expose the bruising on her gums.
Musgraves wrote alongside the photo, “This is wild but the vet was showing me how the inside of her mouth and all down her neck is so bruised from that damn snakebite.”
On Sunday, Musgraves took to Instagram to post photos and videos of her adventures riding horses in the countryside and enjoying moments with Pepper in the studio.
