Kal Penn to star in 'Trust Me, I’m a Doctor', 17 years after model Anna Nicole Smith's mysterious death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kal Penn is set to play Dr Sandeep Kapoor who was wrongfully accused in the death of model Anna Nicole Smith in the upcoming movie based on a doctor's book titled ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.’
The book is written and directed by Thane Economou.
Who was Anna Nicole Smith?
The former playboy model married the 89-year-old oil tycoon J Howard Marshall after the two met at a strip club where she was performing.
Marshall had a 16% stake in Koch Industries and died 14 months later in 1995 after their reunion.
After his passing away, there was a fight over his billions in the US. The Supreme Court was involved in settling the dispute.
Smith had a long history of substance abuse and Kapoor was dragged into her death following reports that he wrote her prescriptions for addictive drugs.
Penn is also the executive producer of ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’ joined by Dan Spilo. The indie film, produced by Stadium, Park Cities Film, and Picmovers, started shooting in Toronto during spring.
The filmmaker is yet to finalize the star to play Anna Nicole Smith, reports Variety.
