PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Vice President Kamala Harris wrapped up a significant political event in Philadelphia with a special musical tribute that grabbed attention.

At a post-debate watch party held at Cherry Street Pier, Harris ended the night by playing Taylor Swift’s empowering anthem, 'The Man.'

The rally followed a high-stakes presidential debate between Harris and her political rival, former President Donald Trump, in what is shaping up to be one of the most intense election cycles in recent history.

The choice of Taylor Swift’s song not only highlighted the event but also served as a nod to a recent public endorsement from the pop superstar.

The song, which addresses gender inequality, serves as an anthem challenging the differential treatment of women compared to men in positions of power.

By selecting this song, Harris appeared to emphasize the significance of Swift’s support while making a strong statement about her own political campaign.

Swift, known for her massive influence both in the music world and on social issues, took to social media to share her strong support for Harris, as per The Guardian.

Through an Instagram post, Swift offered her backing to Harris, praising her as a "steady-handed, gifted leader."

Swift's endorsement has generated additional excitement on the campaign trail, coming at a critical moment when voter interest and engagement are essential.

"Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight," Swift wrote in her post, showing she was closely following the political scene.

She continued, "If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most."

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," she declared, referring to Harris’s running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Swift elaborated on her decision by sharing her admiration for Harris’s leadership, noting her support for women’s rights, LGBTQ+ issues, and healthcare policies.

Swift added, "I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

Her post featured a photo of herself with her cat Benjamin Button and humorously signed off as "Childless cat lady," a playful response to remarks made by Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance in 2021.

Taylor Swift’s influence in the political world is nothing new

Taylor Swift’s influence in the political sphere is well-established. She has endorsed Democratic candidates before, including during the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidential election, when she supported President Joe Biden.

However, her endorsement of Harris in 2024 has brought renewed attention, especially given its timing in the midst of a heated election cycle.

In response to Swift’s public show of support for Harris, the Trump campaign quickly dismissed the significance of the endorsement.

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt commented, "This is further evidence that the Democrat party has unfortunately become a party of the wealthy elites."

Leavitt also insisted that there are "many Swifties for Trump out there in America," attempting to diminish the impact of the pop star's backing of Harris.
