ROYAL OAK, MICHIGAN: Journalist Maria Shriver, who moderated a town hall event for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in Michigan on Monday, October 21, admitted in the very beginning that only "pre-determined" questions were to be posed to the Vice President.

According to Fox News, Shriver was responding to an audience member who asked if they would be allowed to question Harris directly.

"You’re not, unfortunately," she replied, before adding, "We have some predetermined questions, and hopefully, I’ll be able to ask some of the questions that might be in your head. I hope so."

At the event, Harris was accompanied by former Republican representative Liz Cheney, a strong adversary of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, who has endorsed the Vice President in the 2024 race.

Why did the absence of direct questions infuriate voters?

The town hall format for campaigning typically involves attendees directly asking questions to the candidates on issues they feel are important. According to the Daily Wire, having only predetermined questions defeated the entire purpose of the event.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman explained X (formerly Twitter) that there were "two principal reasons why voters object to scripted Kamala Harris" interviews.

"One, they want to know what she really thinks. With the questions given in advance, her team prepares answers that she simply parrots. There is no opportunity to learn who Harris really is and what she truly believes," he stated.

"Two, the president typically doesn’t receive the hard questions in advance and must be ready to respond at a moment’s notice to new situations that could determine the fate of the country. The script for reality is not given in advance and America needs a leader that knows what to do as reality unfolds rather than one who requires a teleprompter to govern," Ackman added.

Kamala Harris called 'coward' for taking only 'predetermined' questions at town hall

Social media users took to X to blast Kamala Harris for not accepting questions from all attendees at the Michigan town hall and opting to answer only 'predetermined' ones, which defeats the whole purpose of the event.

"So they picked the easy questions gave Kamal the answers and then acted like it was a productive event. This is just comical at this point," wrote an X user.

"Kamala Harris is a coward," stated another.

"Disqualifying. Seriously, this is insane that a person running for president is scared of audience questions at a friendly and vetted town hall," shared one person.

"She is the most unauthentic candidate ever to run for POTUS," added another.

"Harris can't answer non-scripted or pre-approved questions. She has zero knowledge of facts and zero thinking ability. She depends on talking points to memorize written by others and being told what to do. Maybe she has super early dementia at 60 years old?" asked one individual.

"This is more staged than Trump’s McDonald’s event," remarked another.
