ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Rapper Quavo appeared at Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign rally in Atlanta to raise awareness against gun violence.

Harris, the presumptive nominee of the Democratic party for the 2024 general election, quoted the rapper during her speech at the same event, as she responded to her political rival Donald Trump over his criticism of the federal administration's handling of the border crisis. "Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a big game about securing our border but he does not walk the walk. Or as my friend Quavo would say, 'He does not walk it like he talks it,'" she stated to rousing cheer from the packed audience.

Quavo's speech at the Atlanta Rally

Former Migos member Quavo gave a short speech at Harris' campaign rally saying, "One of these issues that I care about is resolving the gun violence issues."

"You can't understand the struggle of gun violence if you are not in the field or in the heart of it. So, one thing I learned from working with Vice President Harris is she always stands on business. From inviting me to the White House last year to discuss these solutions, to passing the biggest gun safety laws today."

"So, it's only right in the birthplace of the culture is also the same place to launch the first African-American woman to run for president," he added.

Quavo has been actively raising awareness about gun violence since his rhyme partner Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston back in 2022. Harris, who has long backed the cause, had spoken on the subject at a fireside chat at Quavo's 2024 Rocket Foundation Summit on gun violence prevention in Atlanta last month.

Internet cringes at Kamala Harris' dig at Donald Trump

Social media users were not impressed with Harris quoting Quavo to hit back at her political rival. Some claimed that it did not strike the serious tone expected in the run-up to the presidential election, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"She’s trying so hard to appeal to the younger audience and it’s sad," wrote a user.

"This is the least serious presidential race of all time," stated another.

"Kamala thinks she’s gonna get the younger vote by doing this," mocked a third.

"That's what she looks like when she tries to pander," noted a fourth with a gif.

"This is so embarrassing to watch," expressed a fifth user.

"She is so cringe," commented yet another.

"Is this a rap battle or presidential election? We have fallen so far," commented a seventh.
