WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris said she is ready for former president Donald Trump to lie and make personal attacks during their upcoming debate in an interview on Monday, September 9.

Harris discussed her expectations for Trump's behavior during a conversation on 'The Rickey Smiley Morning Show', stating that Trump has "no floor" when it comes to how low he will go.

Kamala Harris says Donald Trump fights for himself and not for American citizens

Both candidates are set to face off in a highly anticipated debate on Tuesday.

The debate, hosted by ABC News, will be the first in-person meeting between Harris and Trump.

“There’s no floor for him in terms of how low he will go. And we should be prepared for that. We should be prepared for the fact that he is not burdened by telling the truth,” Kamala Harris said during the interview.

Harris also highlighted the importance of pointing out Trump's tendency to focus on himself rather than the American people.

"Ultimately, you know, what I intend to point out is … he tends to fight for himself, not for the American people. And I think that’s going to come out during the debate," she continued.

"But I expect that he is — I think he’s going to lie. And he has a playbook that he has used in the past," Harris added, per The Hill.

What are the rules for Kamala Harris v Donald Trump debate?

The debate will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, without a live audience, and candidates will not have to interact with their campaigns during the event.

The debate will last 90 minutes and moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Microphones will be muted when candidates are not speaking to avoid interruptions, similar to the June debate format between Trump and President Joe Biden.

Harris and Trump will each have two minutes to respond to questions, followed by a two-minute rebuttal and an additional one-minute follow-up time.

There will be no opening statements, but closing statements will be two minutes each. Podium placement and the order of closing remarks were determined by a coin flip, with Trump selecting the final closing statement and Harris choosing the right podium appearing on the left side of the stage.

Candidates will stand behind podiums with only a pen, paper pad, and water. Campaign staff will not be allowed to interact with candidates during breaks, and no pre-written notes or props will be permitted on stage.

Harris’ team had initially pushed for microphones to remain unmuted throughout the debate, believing this would provoke interruptions from Trump.

Internet isn't impressed with Kamala Harris' comments on Donald Trump ahead of debate

As Kamala Harris' remarks about Donald Trump's debate strategy spread, people online began to share their reactions.

Some recalled her previous debate performances, with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing, "She called Biden a racist in her last debate. Then laughed it off."

Others aimed for Harris’ own approach, with one saying, "Kamala Harris has no depth to which she will not go to deceive the American people."

Another wrote, "Neither does she! It won’t be long before she starts calling him names after the debate starts!" "Harris is inept," remarked someone else.
