WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris appeared for her first solo interview after becoming the Democratic nominee on Action News 6 ABC, a local affiliate of ABC News, on Friday, September 13.

According to the New York Post, while Harris opted to be interviewed by the friendly network which served "softball questions," she failed to be clear in her responses.

For instance, when asked about her plans for the economy to bring down prices, Harris shared that she grew up in a middle-class family and her proposals for tax breaks instead.

Kamal Harris mentions her economic plans

Kamala Harris, 59, was interviewed by network anchor Brian Taff of Friday, who began by referencing Harris' call for "opportunity economy" during her September 10 debate against GOP nominee Donald Trump. He asked what Harris had in mind specifically about bringing down prices, but did not receive a straight answer.

“Well, I’ll start with this. I grew up as a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard,” stated Harris, and went on to talk about her neighborhood where people “were proud of their lawn.”

“We as Americans have beautiful character. We have ambitions and aspirations and dreams. But not everyone necessarily has access to the resources that can help them fuel those dreams and ambitions,” she said, side-stepping the actual question.

The topic of conversation then shifted to public safety and gun control, where Harris explained that while she she supports the Second Amendment, she will ban “assault weapons” as "they're literally tools of war,” and promote “universal background checks.”

Internet labels Kamala Harris 'clueless'

Netizens reacting to Kamala Harris' interview on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) slammed her for rambling on camera. The following tweets demonstrate the prevalent takes.

"She has a script, and she’s sticking to it. That’s all she’s capable of doing," wrote a user.

"Lol she’s literally just regurgitating the lines that she memorized for the debate questions that she got in advance," echoed another.

"So her answer to how she'll fix the economy is 'let's talk about my childhood'," mocked a third.

"So she has no plans," quipped a fourth.

"She’s clueless. No business background. No international background. She was a senator for only 4 years. Very inexperienced," noted a fifth.

"Dodging the real question again. Instead of addressing how to bring down prices, Kamala gives a vague answer about her upbringing. Americans need solutions, not stories," expressed yet another.
