MTG says Tucker Carlson targeted because he could win presidency in 2028: 'They're terrified'
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is sounding the alarm for journalist Tucker Carlson.
In a Sunday post, Greene claimed Carlson is facing backlash from "the political machine" because powerful players fear he might one day run for president and win.
Her defense came just a day after Carlson claimed that the United States Department of Justice is preparing to charge him as an unregistered foreign agent.
MTG claims political machine attacks Tucker Carlson out of fear
Greene argued that Carlson’s critics in Washington see him as a threat.
“If you’re noticing Tucker Carlson being attacked from literally every direction of the political machine,” Greene posted, “It’s because they are terrified of him running for president. Because he would win and they know it.”
She also expressed concern for Carlson’s safety and wellbeing. "And that’s why I’m deeply concerned for my friend Tucker Carlson and his family. These people are vicious and evil and will attempt to destroy anyone and everyone that reveals the truth."

Tucker Carlson says DOJ may charge him over Iran contacts
Carlson laid out his version of events in a five-minute video posted to X. “The CIA is preparing some kind of criminal referral against me, a crime report to the Department of Justice, on the basis of a supposed crime I committed,” Carlson said. “What’s that crime? Well, talking to people in Iran before the war. They read my texts.”
He said the potential case appears to revolve around the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires people paid by foreign governments to lobby or advocate politically in the United States to register with the Justice Department.
“I’m not an agent of a foreign power,” Carlson insisted. “Unlike a lot of people commenting on US politics and global affairs, I have only one loyalty, and that’s the United States, and have never acted against it.”

The former Fox News host also suggested that his criticism of Israel could be part of why some intelligence officials might be targeting him. Carlson said Saturday that “some” CIA employees could be going after him because of his “views about Israel.”
Tucker Carlson feud with Trump intensifies
Carlson’s clash with the intelligence community is unfolding while he’s also feuding with Donald Trump. The President recently pushed Carlson out of his orbit after the commentator blasted US and Israeli military action against Iran.
Carlson slammed the strikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other leaders, calling the operation immoral. He described 'Operation Epic Fury' as being “absolutely disgusting and evil” and “waged strictly on behalf of Israel.”
Trump fired back during a March 5 interview with Jonathan Karl of ABC News. “Tucker has lost his way,” he said. “I knew that a long time ago, and he’s not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”

Before their relationship soured, The New York Times reported that Carlson met with Trump three times in the month leading up to the conflict with Iran. Carlson was one of the few voices close to the President who was “lobbying against” attacking the country. Trump ultimately moved ahead anyway.
The President has also rejected claims that the US strike on Iran happened because Washington was pressured by Israel. Speaking to Rachel Scott of ABC earlier this month, Trump said, “If anything, I might’ve forced Israel’s hand.”
Carlson suggested Saturday that the intelligence community’s alleged investigation could be an attempt to send a message. He said officials may be trying to “humiliate and terrify” him with the threat of charges.
