WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN: During Vice President Kamala Harris' first rally as the presumed Democratic nominee, a crowd shouting "lock him up!" supported her new presidential bid.

"I was elected attorney general of the state of California, and I was a courtroom prosecutor before then. And in those roles I took on perpetrators of all kinds — predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain," Harris told voters at a Wisconsin rally Tuesday, July 23, according to the New York Post.

"So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type," she added.

Kamala Harris' crowd chants 'lock him up'

The audience reacted favorably to Kamala Harris' speech, cheering and chanting "lock him up!" after it was delivered.

The chants brought back memories of the 2016 presidential campaign rallies for then-GOP candidate Trump, where supporters would yell, "lock her up," referring to Trump's opponent, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Similar cries, "lock him up!" were heard at Trump's rallies four years later, directed at President Joe Biden, following his criticism of the Biden family as a "criminal enterprise."

Despite such campaign rhetoric, during Trump's administration, no federal criminal charges were ever brought against Clinton or Biden.

Reason for the re-emergence of anti-Donald Trump chant at Kamala Harris' rally

The chant reappeared at Kamala Harris' rally on Tuesday, underscoring the campaign's early strategy of emphasizing the vice president's prosecutorial background and casting the election of November as a contest between her record and that of a candidate who was just found guilty on more than thirty counts in a New York trial.

Critics have been quick to pounce on Kamala Harris’ seemingly mixed record on crime

Critics haven't hesitated to capitalize on Kamala Harris's allegedly inconsistent criminal history, though.

"During the Kenosha riots, she defended the rioters, and that's in the swing state of Wisconsin, where that was very unpopular, we have to make sure voters remember all of these crazy things that she's said, and she's wanted to do," a House Republican strategist told Fox News

Kamala Harris’ prosecutorial record was panned during her 2020 presidential campaign

During her 2020 presidential campaign, Kamala Harris' record as a prosecutor was also heavily criticized. Detractors noted that the current vice president was especially harsh on individuals who committed minor offenses.

"Sen Harris says she's proud of her record as a prosecutor and that she'll be a prosecutor president, but I'm deeply concerned about this record," former Rep Tulsi Gabbard, who was at the time was a Democratic primary opponent of Harris, said during a 2020 presidential debate.

"There are too many examples to cite, but she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana," Gabbard added.

Internet mocks Kamala Harris' supporters at the Wisconsin rally

Netizens slammed the democratic party supporters present at Kamala Harris' Wisconsin rally.

Although it hasn't been officially announced, Harris is expected to replace Biden as the party's presidential nominee after she gathered enough support from fellow Democratic leaders.

One X user tweeted, "Lock Harris Up," while another commented, "people supporting kamala harris are deceived."

"You should be on trial for being a traitor and lying to America for years," one user wrote and someone else remarked, "How much were they paid to do that? Every person that at her rallies are paid."
