NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is facing online ridicule after posting a video of President Donald Trump signing hats for supporters, gushing over his connection with fans.

The post came shortly after Trump appeared alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi and Leavitt at the US Open men’s singles final, where Italy’s Jannik Sinner faced off against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Karoline Leavitt posted a 27-second video of Donald Trump signing hats at the US Open Men’s Final, along with a gushing caption, "The People’s President and the coolest boss ever. Signing hats for fans at the #USOpen 😎🎾."

The video clip shows Trump engaging directly with fans. In the opening moments, he signs a blue hat and tosses it into the crowd. At the 10-second mark, he signs a white hat and hands it back to the fan who passed it to him.

A few seconds later, he autographs a red "Make America Great Again" cap, resting it briefly on his knees before tossing it toward a group of fans standing farther away, prompting cheers from the crowd. Throughout the clip, several attendees can be heard calling out for photos with the president.

This video comes nearly a month after Trump faced online mockery for his unusual praise of Leavitt. During an August 1 appearance on Newsmax with host Rob Finnerty, Trump, 79, called the 27-year-old press secretary a "machine gun," specifically praising her "brain and lips," a comment that quickly drew attention and sparked debate across social media platforms.

The clip quickly went viral, with Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters praising it as clear evidence of his widespread popularity. However, critics highlighted that Trump faced repeated boos throughout his appearance at the tennis tournament, including during the National Anthem when his image appeared on the Jumbotron.

One remarked, “That’s funny—I don’t hear much booing,” and another said, “Will never recognize ANY0NE as a boss... no such thing in my vocabulary.”

Some users mocked the scene, with a person writing, “After being booed relentlessly 🤣😂,” and another joking, “Signed hats that no one wants 🤣.”

An individual questioned, “Was that before or after all the booing? Sit down, puffer—we have eyes,” while one took a dig at Leavitt, writing, “Seems like Karoline has only job and that is marketing.”

Criticism also came in defense of Trump, with a user accusing Leavitt, “You are equally as disgusting as he is for defending him."

Others took a sarcastic tone, with a person saying, “Ah, yes. Authentic connection forged through branded merchandise. Truly egalitarian.” Another quipped, “He is signing hats for the people that booed him? lol. How Many of those Made in China hats are in the trash bin."
