Kate Bush admits being 'really ready' to get back into creative space with new album and 'lot of ideas'

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Kate Bush has revealed she is returning to music with a fresh album, sharing that she has "lots of ideas" to explore creatively.

Known for her reclusive nature, Bush shared her recent creative aspirations and her motivation to re-enter the studio after years of being focused on other projects.

The singer’s last album '50 Words for Snow' was released in 2011.

Since her debut in 1978 with 'Wuthering Heights,' Kate Bush has become an icon for hits such as 'Babooshka' and 'King of the Mountain.'

In 2022, her 1985 track 'Running Up That Hill' gained renewed popularity after being featured on the Netflix series 'Stranger Things', drawing in a new generation of listeners.

When asked about her plans to create new music, Kate Bush shared her excitement to start fresh.

“Yes it is, really. Particularly [in] the last year, I’ve felt really ready to start doing something new,” Bush told BBC Radio 4 on October 25, confirming her renewed passion for music.



 

Kate Bush hints at new music album and 'lots of ideas'

Kate Bush noted that she has been involved in other creative work, particularly archiving.

“...I’ve been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together," she said.

Bush then suggested she could be close to returning to music after she completes her current projects.

“And I’m very keen to start working on a new album when I’ve got this finished,” she said, adding that she has "lots of ideas" and is "really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time," Bush shared.

Bush, who in 1980 became the first solo female British artist to top the UK Albums Charts with 'Never For Ever', has maintained her iconic status despite sporadic releases in recent years.



 

Kate Bush a career away from public eye 

While her career has largely been spent away from the public eye, Kate Bush has stayed active through various creative outlets.

Recently, she unveiled a short film, 'Little Shrew', a four-minute animation set to her 2011 song 'Snowflake' which she also promoted during the interview, according to the Guardian. 

Bush wrote and directed the piece, using it to raise awareness for children affected by war. "I started working on it a couple of years ago, it was not long after the Ukrainian war broke out, and I think it was such a shock for all of us,” Bush told BBC.

Bush expressed, “I just felt I wanted to make a little animation … to draw attention to how horrific it is for children." The film, available for free on her website, encourages donations to the international charity War Child.

Fans express excitement, say Kate Bush will top billboard in 'no time'

In 2014, Kate Bush surprised the music world by returning to live performances with a residency in London, marking her first concerts in decades, as per Billboard. 

Her 1985 single 'Running Up That Hill' peaked at No 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022 after getting featured in Netflix series crossing its original palcement of 30.

It topped the UK Singles Chart for three weeks to give Bush her second No1 single. In 2023, the song topped 1 billion streams on Spotify.

On social media, fans expressed excitement about the prospect of new music. "She will become a billboard top in no time," one user wrote on X.

“THE WORLD IS NOT READY FOR THIS SERVE,” another commented enthusiastically while others welcomed her back with messages like “The Queen is back.”

"Yes very long time," wrote more, reffering to her remarks that it has been a long time.
