LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: According to a body language expert, the Princess of Wales expressed in her poignant video message how she truly felt after receiving the shocking cancer news.
A body language specialist claimed that Princess Kate Middleton's devastating diagnosis—which she announced to the public on Friday, March 22—demonstrated her genuine "strength and willpower."
Following her successful abdominal surgery in January, examinations indicated that Kate had cancer, and she disclosed in her announcement that she is currently in the early phases of her chemotherapy treatment.
Body language expert praises 'brave solo performance by Kate'
Following months of concealment and an inept Photoshop job, Kate finally came clean on Friday, revealing her cancer diagnosis and explaining why she had been away from the public eye for several weeks.
Body language expert Judi James told The Mirror that Kate put up a brave front for the public while sitting on a bench with spring flowers blooming in the backdrop and casually dressed in pants and a striped pullover.
Judi remarked, "It's almost impossible to view this brave solo performance by Kate without crying yourself," as viewers were driven to tears as they watched the clip.
"Sitting pale, rather drawn but still elegant and quite beautiful, she sits in a casual jumper to relay her anything-but-casual message."
According to Kate, the news was a "shock" for her, Prince William, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Judi also described William's feelings following Kate's announcement of her going solo. "What husband would ever want to see his wife recording a message like this sitting alone especially one who then has to ask for privacy to be allowed to heal?" she continued.
"But the fact that Kate has suggests strength and willpower from the future queen. One of Kate’s faintest smiles here comes as she says that ‘having William by my side is a great source of comfort.’"

Expert Judi James went on to describe how Kate sent out "contrasting signals" via her body language. Judi commented: "With her head held high she shows so many signs of firmness, determination and resilience."
"Her left eyebrow is raised in what is normally an expression of humor while her lips pucker and purse and her eyes narrow to show the firmness when she speaks of her recovery and her need for time, space and privacy."
Upon careful examination, Judi concluded that the moment she mentions William and her "young family," her voice starts to falter.
And that her genuine thoughts regarding the diagnosis were revealed by a gentle, comforting gesture with her hand. "Kate's hand clasp suggests willpower tinged with some anxiety," Judi remarked.
"Her left-hand raises to show a desire to keep control and to reassure when she says she is in the ‘early stages of chemo.’ Her only concession to any inner anxiety comes from a very slight and gentle thumb rub, which is a self-comfort gesture," Judi concluded.
A second body language expert, Chris Ulrich, told the New York Post that the Princess of Wales showed feelings in a two-minute video that were "consistent with her words."
This indicates that the royal family is now addressing the widespread rumors that have been swirling around her well-being in recent days.
Ulrich is more convinced that Kate is sincere about the message because of the alignment between her body language and her spoken words.
Kate appeared upbeat about the future when she mentioned going back to work after her Christmas vacation.
She gave some followers comfort, saying that she was doing better every day from her therapy, but she also requested privacy for herself and her family during this trying time.
