In the 2023 war drama, Winslet played the extraordinary British Vogue model-turned-photojournalist who found herself on the front lines of World War II.

In a revealing chat with Harper's Bazaar UK, Winslet recounted, “There's a bit where Lee's sitting on a bench in a bikini,” adding, a crew member suggested, "You might want to sit up straighter."

Winslet’s retort was as defiant as it was intentional: “So you can't see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?”

She further elaborated, admitting she halted her exercise regimen entirely to achieve a more genuine and softer appearance, staying true to Miller’s real-life persona.

In 2003, she publicly criticized British GQ for digitally altering her appearance on a magazine cover, a move that the magazine later admitted to.

As reported by Deadline, "I do not look like that and more importantly I don’t desire to look like that," she said back then.

She also added, "I actually have a Polaroid that the photographer gave me on the day of the shoot … I can tell you they’ve reduced the size of my legs by about a third. For my money it looks pretty good the way it was taken."

 

In a groundbreaking move back in 2015, Winslet made headlines by insisting that her contract with L’Oreal included a crucial stipulation: her appearance would never be digitally altered.

She described this decision as a "responsibility to the younger generation of women," underscoring her dedication to realness.

"I would always want to be telling the truth about who I am to that generation because they’ve got to have strong leaders," she explained.
