Katy Perry’s exit from ‘American Idol’ celebrated by son of vet with whom she’s embroiled in court battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While most of the world was shocked after Katy Perry announced her exit from ‘America Idol,' there is one person who has expressed his happiness.
Reportedly, the son of 84-year-old Carl Westcott, with whom the singer has been entangled in a legal dispute over a California mansion for approximately four years, has asserted that she should have departed Hollywood sooner, particularly after purportedly mistreating his father.
Carl Westcott’s son says Katy Perry is leaving ‘American Idol’ because of her alleged ill-behavior
Carl told RadarOnline.com, “I am not surprised that after Ms Perry has done something so dastardly and tasteless to my father she is seeking to leave the public eye.”
He further stated, “If the public knew better how dishonorably she and her agents treated my dying 84-year-old mentally ill US Army veteran dad and our family, she would have been long ago run out of American Idol and Hollywood on a rail.”
Katy Perry shares her plan
This came after Perry shared her decision to leave the reality show after being associated with it for years.
‘The One That Got Away’ singer reportedly said on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!', “Well, you know, this fall, this September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio.”

She continued, “It’s really exciting. It’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially my Brazilian fans,” before mentioning, “So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.”
The 39-year-old TV personality also noted, “I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America. But I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”
In an Instagram post, Perry added, “Let’s play two truths and a lie: 1. I beat @usher at Monopoly Deal. 2. I’m headlining Rock in Rio this September. 3. This is my last season on @americanidol. Tune in to @jimmykimmellive to find out.”

Katy Perry to take a stand in July
Meanwhile, regarding the legal drama, Perry was accused of wrongfully buying Westcott’s property worth $15 million in 2020 as he apparently signed papers while being not in his senses because of painkillers and an hours-long back surgery.
Despite the elderly man's lawsuit against the 'California Gurls' hitmaker, he was unsuccessful in that legal case.
However, a new legal proceeding commenced when Perry pursued $2.6 million in damages from the army veteran, contending that she was unable to rent out the mansion due to the ongoing legal dispute.
A trial for the case has been scheduled for July 8, 9, and 10.
