Kaylee Gain's family previously said that she was in critical condition

Kaylee's family previously said her condition was critical following the fight that took place near Gain's St Louis County High School and noted that she was “fighting hard to stay alive and heal."

“Her mother and father are staying by her side night and day hoping to bring her back to the Kaylee they know and love,” said one of the GoFundMe pages. “Your support would help with lost wages and piling up medical bills due to intensive care treatment.”

A student was arrested in connection to Kaylee Gain's incident

Police previously shared that they arrested a 15-year-old student in connection with the fight, per local station KSDK. The student's name has not been released due to their age.

The Independent and other outlets reported that a new Change.org petition has urged authorities to not charge the student who was arrested as an adult, arguing that she was "seen defending herself from harassment and bullying" in the video.

After the fight, the Hazelwood School District shared on Facebook that it would offer emotional and crisis support to students in need.

“It is a tragedy anytime children are hurt. Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue for which we all need to take ownership and work towards a resolution for the sake of our children,” the statement read.
