Keanu Reeves reveals his morbid thoughts while promoting new book, leaves fans in deep reflection
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Keanu Reeves, 59, known for his ageless demeanor, shared his preoccupation with mortality in a recent BBC News interview.
Despite his reputation as an 'eternally youthful' actor, Keanu Reeves admits he often thinks about mortality.
Keanu Reeves reveals 'crippling' thoughts about death
While promoting his new novel, 'The Book of Elsewhere,' with co-author China Mieville, Keanu Reeves revealed that thoughts of death frequently occupy his mind. The novel, inspired by Reeves' BRZRKR comic series, delves into themes of immortality and the desire for death.
"I'm 59, so I'm thinking about death all the time," the actor told BBC News on Monday.
"Hopefully it's not crippling, but hopefully it's sensitized [us] to an appreciation of the breath we have, and the relationships that we have the potential to have," he explained.
Despite his contemplations on death, Reeves is fully embracing life. He and his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, recently attended the MotoGP Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix in Germany, where they enthusiastically participated, even waving the checkered flag. This event was a fitting choice for Reeves, who founded his custom motorcycle company, ARCH Motorcycle, in 2011.
This novel follows the success of his popular comic book series 'BRZRKR,' launched in 2021 and soon to be adapted into a live-action film and anime series on Netflix.
"I love the images," Keanu said of comic books. "I love words and storytelling and I love the way that you can have this engagement that overlays and so you can look at the art and then you can follow the story."
