* 🗞️ A 56-year-old man was arrested by Miami Beach police yesterday for allegedly stalking Shakira. The person was identified as Daniel John Valtier of El Paso, Texas, and has been making odd claims about the pop singer on… pic.twitter.com/2nRwocsIZ9
The arrest came after police and the 46-year-old singer’s security director had a meeting in which officers were shown online posts shared by the accused, who claimed to be the husband of Shakira and also boasted about his relationship with her sons.
The man allegedly posted such claims between December 30, 2023, and January 2, 2024.
As per an arrest affidavit, Valtier not only shared false information on social media, but he also sent gifts like toys, wine, and chocolates to the ‘Waka Waka’ hitmaker’s address.
Daniel John Valtier allegedly called Shakira his wife
The man was presented before a judge on Tuesday, January 9, where he reportedly told the judge, “She’s [Shakira] my wife. I speak to her all the time.”
But the judge said, “I have real concerns right now because this man is delusional saying she’s his wife and that’s not true.”
They noted, “That is very concerning to the court. I’m very concerned …”
The judge also added, “Then I have the same man in court making comments to me that suggest he believes that he has the right to be with this person and that is absolutely not true.”
Now, Valtier has been ordered to a $100,000 bond and the judge also banned him from having any contact with the mother of two sons.
