LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late NFL star-turned-celebrity murder suspect OJ Simpson's former lawyer Alan Dershowitz has claimed that Simpson "was framed."

Simpson, 76, lost his fight with cancer on Wednesday, April 10, as confirmed by his family. In 1995, Simpson was found not guilty after  facing accusations of killing his former spouse Nicole Brown, and her friend Ronald Goldman.

OJ Simpson's former lawyer Alan Dershowitz claimed evidence proved his client 'was framed'

Speaking to CTV News Channel on Thursday, April 12, 'Dream Team' lawyer Allan Dershowitz claimed, "Whether (Simpson) was guilty or innocent … the evidence was overwhelming that he was framed."

"The crucial piece of evidence, the sock, which had his blood and the blood of one of the victims on it, was tampered with," Dershowitz stated. "The blood was poured from test tubes, it didn't come from OJ Simpson's body directly."

According to Dershowitz, the defense attorneys were able to demonstrate "conclusively" that the sock had been altered after discovering a chemical in test tubes.

Dershowitz further claimed that "It was a very divisive case. People hated him, people hated me for representing him." According to Dershowitz, reaction to the trial was "divided along racial lines."

"To the 'armchair lawyers' who say the verdict in the so-called 'Trial of the Century' was a miscarriage of justice, I simply say: you don't understand the law," Dershowitz further remarked.

He said, "As a member of OJ's defense team, I was able to persuasively make the case that some of the evidence against him had been fabricated by Los Angeles Police Department officers."

"Now, that doesn't prove that OJ was innocent. But it does illuminate the reasoning behind the jury's legitimate decision," he added, per Daily Mail.

Dershowitz continued: "Furthermore, professional 'splatter analysis' showed the blood could have been poured on the sock while it was lying flat, rather than having been sprayed on while it was being worn."

"It was arguable then that the bloody sock had been planted by police in a potential attempt to 'frame' OJ – and that revelation shattered the prosecution."

Dershowitz also listed the "foolish" errors he believes the prosecution committed, such as having Simpson try on the notorious glove in front of the jury.

"They could have had him try it on outside of the presence of the jury, and if they saw it didn't fit they wouldn't have used the evidence," he stated.

"If OJ had been an ordinary black defendant, who couldn't afford a high-priced defense team, perhaps he would have been sent to prison."

"That's why I take pro-bono legal cases – to make sure that my legal talents are spread evenly between the poor and the wealthy," Dershowitz added.

Internet erupts over Alan Dershowitz defending OJ Simpson

Alan Dershowitz received a flurry of criticism from social media users after he claimed that the former NFL star and dual murder suspect was framed.

One such user slammed and wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Dershowitz has to live with his decision to knowingly defend a murderer of two people off , and allow a miscarriage of justice . Attorney Howard Weitzman had the decency to recuse himself from defending Simpson"

A second user added, "Dershowitz be like "I would have represented Hitler if he hadn't gassed his way through his money"

"Dershowitz is a clown. The guy was going on CNN every night presuming OJ’s guilt and saying this case was a slam dunk until he got his desired outcome which was getting hired to the Dream team so he would shut up about it in the media," claimed a third X user.

A fourth user remarked, "Alan Dershowitz was one of the lawyers who represented OJ Simpson in his double murder trial. Congrats, Alan, for helping another celebrity maniac evade justice!"

Another enraged X user wrote in part: "Sickening. Just watching Alan Dershowitz on with @gregkellyusa bragging about his role in freeing OJ Simpson. He knew he was guilty. He knew he did it. He doesn't care. It's a game to Dershowitz and he won."

"Alan sometimes you need to keep your mouth shut," slammed one in part of their post.

"'Dream Team' lawyer ALAN DERSHOWITZ: 'OJ Simpson was framed' All defense attorneys believe this! This belief does not make it true!" exclaimed one.
