Kelly Clarkson 'relieved' she no longer has to pay ex Brandon Blackstock $115K monthly spousal support
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kelly Clarkson is ending an expensive chapter in her life by paying her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock her last installment of spousal support at the beginning of 2024.
"Kelly is feeling relieved that her spousal support to Brandon has come to an end," a source close to the 41-year-old singer told Us Weekly.
The pop singer filed for divorce from Blackstock, 47, in June 2020 after the two had been married for over seven years, having first met in 2006.
According to court records obtained at the time, Clarkson was required to pay a $1,326,161 one-time, tax-free payment in addition to agreeing to pay Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024.
'Kelly’s looking for a clean slate in 2024'
After their divorce was finalized in 2022, Clarkson was mandated to provide $45k monthly in child support for their two children, River, 9, and Remington, 7 years old.
Additionally, Blackstock received $115,000 per month in spousal support up until January 2024.
Speaking of the final spousal support payment, the source close to the singer said that Clarkson has "been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete. It’s so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year."
"Kelly’s looking at this as a fresh start and she couldn’t be happier for a clean slate in 2024," the insider added.
According to court records obtained by TMZ, a California labor commissioner declared in November 2023 that Blackstock had "illegally" secured positions for Clarkson while working as her manager, including signing her contract to serve as a judge on 'The Voice'.
According to the outlet, Blackstock also received $2,641,374 in payments for endorsements from Wayfair and Norwegian Cruise Line.
The labor commissioner further ordered Blackstock to pay his ex-wife back the payments, which included $1.98 million for 'The Voice' gig.
Blackstock's legal team reportedly intends to appeal the ruling.
The 'Stronger' singer moved to New York City with River and Remington before the fifth season of her show, 'The Kelly Clarkson Show.'
On a note, Clarkson said she's "most excited" about her new workplace at 30 Rockefeller Center since she can now "show up to work smiling and actually meaning it."

Brandon Blackstock allegedly told Kelly Clarkson she wasn't 'sexy' enough to be on 'The Voice'
Clarkson claimed that her ex-husband, Blackstock, had told her that 'The Voice' would not consider her for a judgeship due to her perceived lack of physical attractiveness.
The singer claimed that Blackstock said those things while he was not only her spouse but also her manager at work.
Amid their contentious divorce, she and Blackstock were embroiled in a legal battle over money when she accused her former partner during her testimony before a California labor commissioner last year.
Recently, additional information on Clarkson's testimony has emerged in a New York Post article that references pertinent court records.
Clarkson claimed that after years of expressing her wish to be a coach on 'The Voice,' she was rejected by her ex-husband, who informed her that NBC officials were "looking for a more sex symbol type," like Rihanna, and had no interest in the 'American Idol' star.
The 'Stronger' singer further claimed that Blackstock informed her that NBC would rather have Rihanna as a candidate because the network "had to have someone that was black. … They had to have a diverse thing," along with the fact that she was "someone sexy."
