WASHINGTON, DC: Amid growing controversy over President Trump’s White House ballroom project, Kellyanne Conway offered her own theory on why Democrats are melting down.

The president has begun demolishing the East Wing to make way for a 90,000-square-foot state ballroom, a privately funded project that has drawn sharp criticism from the left despite costing taxpayers nothing.

During her appearance on Fox Business, Kellyanne Conway explained why she believes Democrats are upset over the Trump White House’s new ballroom

On the show 'The Evening Edit,' she told host Elizabeth MacDonald, “You know what I think is going on here? The left is zealous because they’re jealous. And if they get invited to one of these big fancy affairs, they’ll be just fine. I promise you, plus the president’s being transparent. He is issuing a list of the donors.”

Conway also noted that Trump contributed his own money to start the construction. “Everybody can see who’s actually funding it. They’re going to be acknowledged on the wall if they’d like to be. But more importantly, he went first. You know how the left is always screaming, Liz, ‘make the billionaires pay for it, make the billionaires pay for it.’ That billionaire, President Trump, he gave practically the first contribution,” she said.

She emphasized that the ballroom project is part of Trump’s larger effort to beautify America ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary. “He’s donating his presidential salary, other folks did not do that. He’s doing that in addition to raising money among people and companies that want to contribute to the beautification of America,” Conway added.

She concluded, “We’ve got a lot of big things going on, like America 250 in just a few short months from now, Liz. … We want to show America that our nation’s capital is welcoming to all folks. And so, I just think it’s a lot of high dungeons. I’ve never seen the left so animated about anything other than wanting to give care to illegal immigrants.”

Trump’s White House plans spark outrage despite century of changes

For over a century, the White House has undergone continuous upgrades and redesigns. In 1902, former President Theodore Roosevelt built the West Wing and renovated several key rooms, including the East Room and the State Dining Room.

In 1909, former President William Howard Taft expanded the West Wing and created the first Oval Office, according to The White House. When structural issues made the mansion unsafe, former President Harry S Truman gutted the interior and rebuilt it from the inside out while preserving the original exterior walls.

Decades later, former President Richard Nixon added the James S Brady Briefing Room above the old pool and installed a bowling alley in the basement.

Recently, prominent Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, criticized Trump for ordering the East Wing’s demolition, accusing him of overreach and power misuse.

Many political figures incorrectly claim that taxpayers are funding the project, even though the ballroom is entirely financed through private contributions. Senator Warren highlighted this on X, stating, “Oh you're trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing? Donald Trump can't hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom.”

Karoline Leavitt says Democrats are jealous over Trump's plans

Karoline Leavitt also claimed that Democrats are jealous of President Trump’s idea to build a stunning new ballroom at the White House. She emphasized during her recent appearance on Fox News with Jesse Watters, “The best part of it all? Not a dime of taxpayer money.”

Leavitt argued, "There's a lot of FAKE outrage right now because nearly every single president who has lived in this beautiful White House behind me has made modernizations and renovations of their own."

She added, “And in fact, presidents for decades in the modern time have quipped about how they wish they had a larger event space here at the White House that can hold hundreds more people than the current East Room and state dining rooms can.”

“While many presidents have privately dreamt about this, it's PRESIDENT TRUMP who is actually doing something about it.,” she continued. “He is truly the Builder-in-Chief.”
