SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway defended Donald Trump after his speech in Savannah, Georgia, where he veered off the economic topic multiple times.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, spoke for over 80 minutes, much longer than expected, prompting questions about his focus on the economy.

Kellyanne Conway says Donald Trump stayed on topic despite ad-libbing

Fox News host John Roberts noted that Donald Trump had spoken three times longer than the prepared speech which led to a debate between Conway and Fox News contributor Juan Williams.

Roberts observed, "That was quite a speech, almost an hour/and-a-half... I think the speech was three times as long as the prepared text because he kept ad-libbing and deviating so much."

Conway admitted that Trump "did go off topic a little bit," but insisted he still outlined "very specific plans for the economy," urging Kamala Harris to offer more detailed solutions. "It got very granular," Conway argued.

However, Williams countered, saying, "I'm still waiting for the grain here, the granular pieces... all I heard from him was attacks on Harris, comrade Kamala."

He further noted, "For an hour-and-a-half, Kamala is a communist," stated Williams.

Juan Williams argues Donald Trump's speech lacked specifics

As Juan Williams continued to criticize Donald Trump's speech, he was interupted by Kellyanne Conway saying, "Come on, Juan! You have the text in front of you. Don't say that."

Williams stated it "was pretty much just an ad hominem personal attack" and "made for like a rally-like atmosphere."

He also pointed out, "Even as he attacks Harris, he ignores the fact the US economy right now is growing even after COVID. It's the best on the globe. Manufacturing fell to its lowest under Trump," Raw Story noted.

Conway objected, claiming that Trump had stayed on the topic. "I just can't sit here and abide these lies," she said. Williams responded saying, "It's not a lie. It's the absolute truth."

Conway pushed back again, stating, "You sat there with five pages of his speech." Williams exclaimed, "And it didn't produce!"

Even John Roberts acknowledged that Trump's prepared remarks made up only "one-fifth of the total content" of his speech. Frustrated, Conway commented, "Well, at least he speaks."

Another commented, "That was so funny. She made him look like a total a**s"
