Kendra Duggar lists belongings, turns home into rental to help post Joseph Duggar’s $600K bond
TONTITOWN, ARKANSAS: Kendra Duggar is taking major steps to manage her family’s finances after her husband Joseph Duggar’s recent legal troubles, including selling belongings and preparing their home as a rental property.
The couple’s situation unfolded quickly after Joseph’s arrest on March 18, leading to a series of decisions aimed at securing funds and planning for the future.
Joseph Duggar was released from custody on March 31 after posting a $600,000 bond in Florida. While only $60,000 was needed upfront for his release, the financial strain of legal costs and future uncertainty appears to have pushed the family into urgent action.
Kendra Duggar begins selling belongings amid financial strain
While Joseph remained in custody following his March 18 arrest, Kendra Duggar was already working on ways to raise money. Shortly after her own release on March 20, she began listing several family items for sale.
During a March 25 jail phone call, the couple discussed what could be sold to bring in cash. Among the items mentioned were trailers, a four-wheeler, a pressure washer, a waterproof tarp and a wood splitter.
The conversation showed how quickly they were trying to respond to the situation. With legal expenses looming, selling assets became one of the first steps toward easing the burden.
At the same time, Kendra was also dealing with her own legal challenges and trying to ensure stability for their four children.
Couple turns family home into rental property for steady income
Alongside selling belongings, Kendra also made the decision to move out of their home and prepare it as a rental property.
The idea, discussed during the same phone call, was to create a steady stream of income moving forward.
Kendra cleared out the house as part of the process, managing the physical work on her own while juggling multiple responsibilities.
The couple believed that rental income could provide some level of financial security during an uncertain time.
Kendra Duggar opens up about physical toll and exhaustion
In her final phone call with Joseph before his extradition, Kendra spoke about how the situation had started to affect her health.
“[I]f you could pray for my health because, I don't know, I've just been really, really fatigued in the last two days,” she said.
She described how physically demanding the work had been, adding that she “couldn't move after moving the stuff downstairs” and that her body felt like it was “turning off like a weighted blanket.”
Joseph responded by acknowledging her strength, saying he was surprised she had managed to keep going for so long given her past health issues.
Kendra, however, described her ability to continue as “an absolute miracle,” repeating the phrase during the call.
Legal restrictions and upcoming court dates
After posting bond, Joseph Duggar returned to Arkansas, where he is now with Kendra but not their children.
According to details shared in a jail letter, Kendra is unable to see her children for a month following her March 20 arrest on child welfare-related charges.
As part of his pretrial release conditions, Joseph is not allowed to be alone with his children or any minors without supervision.
The couple is expected to appear in court on April 29 in connection with the charges they are facing in Arkansas. Joseph is also set to be arraigned in Florida in May, where he has already filed a written plea of not guilty.
