Kendra Duggar escorted to ‘private residence’ with children within two hours of release: Report
TONTITOWN, ARKANSAS: Kendra Duggar was taken into custody in Arkansas on March 20 after she and her husband, Joseph Duggar, were charged with four counts each of second-degree endangerment and second-degree false imprisonment.
The development came a day after authorities, including the Tontitown Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Human Services, searched the couple’s home on Thursday, March 19, in connection with an alleged abuse incident.
Following the search, Kendra is said to be staying at a private residence rather than returning home. She is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, April 29, where the case will move forward.
Kendra Duggar claims ‘very private’ location after release
Kendra was released on a $1,470 bond about 90 minutes (an hour and 30 minutes) after being booked. Soon after, she was taken to a quiet, private place with her children, according to People.
Later that evening, she spoke to her husband, Joseph, in a collect call from the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas. The call took place at 8:11 pm on March 20, after Joseph tried calling her two times before but could not reach her.
"Did you hear that I'm out here with, did you hear where I'm at and everything?" Kendra asks Joseph on the call. Joseph tells her it may not be a good idea to share where she is. Kendra does not give away her location after that.
"They brought me to a good place to stay that's very private," Kendra says. During the call, children can be heard playing in the background as Kendra checks on Joseph. "So you're doing okay," Kendra asks.
Joseph says he is "trying to keep (his) spirits up." He also says, "reading the Bible has really been helpful and calming to think about all the situation situations." He gets a bit emotional and later adds that reading the Bible has been "uplifting."
Joseph Duggar transferred as case moves to Florida
Joseph Duggar is no longer being held at an Arkansas detention facility, about nine days after he was first booked on felony charges. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, he has been moved out of their custody.
He had been held there after being charged on March 18 by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. The charges are linked to an alleged abuse incident that reportedly took place during a 2020 family trip to Panama City Beach.
Joseph remained in Arkansas while waiting to be transferred to Florida. This came after he waived his right to extradition during a hearing on March 20. Once in Florida, he is expected to face charges related to lewd and lascivious behavior connected to the alleged abuse incident.
