Kereem was killed while returning from a gathering to commemorate his friend Brandon Nichols, who died on January 30 after being shot in his torso. No arrests have been made in his case.
After Kereem's death, a friend took to social media to write, "Can't believe this s**t," expressing disbelief and love for both individuals.
Kereem's aunt, Nichola Morgan, who raised him as her own after his mother's death 17 years ago, recalled how he reassured her that he would be back shortly, even after she pleaded with him to stay indoors.
Nichola, who was unaware of his destination, apparently had a foreboding feeling about his departure from the house.
She further recalled, "My cousin upstairs told him too– 'Why don't you just stay inside?' And he’s like, 'Cousin I'm coming right back I’m not staying long.'"
