Kevin Costner wants divorce deal reworked as ex-wife Christine Baumgartner gets engaged
According to insiders, Kevin Costner, 70, believes his hefty support payments should end once Christine Baumgartner remarries. She caught him off guard with the split in 2023, and now that she’s with Josh Connor, who is financially well off himself, Costner wants his legal team to step in.
"Kevin is watching closely," a source revealed. "He doesn’t see why he should be funding her lifestyle when she’s about to marry another rich guy."
"Kevin is watching the situation very carefully and hopes to pounce once they become man and wife," a source revealed. "He's paying Christine a monster sum each month in spousal support but surely she won't need that when she becomes someone else's spouse. Plus, he doesn't see why his cash should be going to support Josh's life as he's a very wealthy man in his own right."
Costner was blindsided when Baumgartner unexpectedly filed for divorce in 2023, bringing their 18-year marriage to an abrupt end and leaving him to adjust to life as a single father to their three teenage children. However, what truly ignited his "raging" wasn’t just the split, it was how swiftly she moved on with Connor.
Baumgartner initially demanded a staggering $161,592 a month in child support. Costner, however, scored a small win when the judge slashed that amount to $63,209. He argued she based her number on his 'Yellowstone' earnings, money he claimed he wasn’t even making any more after walking away from the show.
Kevin Costner faces $100M setback after ‘Horizon’ box office disaster
Kevin Costner’s push for a settlement revision comes at a tough time. His push to renegotiate the settlement comes as he deals with a massive financial hit with 'Horizon' flopping at the box office.
Reports say he’s staring down a $100 million loss after pouring his money into the project, even mortgaging his 10-acre Santa Barbara ranch to make it happen.
Costner’s split from Baumgartner took a serious toll on his wallet, stripping away a significant portion of his $400 million fortune.
Meanwhile, Baumgartner has been living comfortably in a $22,000-a-month rental in Montecito. Now, with her engagement to Josh Connor who proposed over a quiet beachside dinner in Santa Barbara, Costner’s frustration is only growing and he’s ready to fight back.
Christine Baumgartner and Josh Connor were first spotted together in July 2023, but it wasn’t until January 2024 that they made it official. Friends say the proposal caught Baumgartner completely off guard.
"It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee," a source shared.
"Christine and Josh's relationship started as a friendship, so they have a really strong foundation," one insider explained. "They share the same values, and she feels so happy and supported in this new relationship. They're so in love. It's been a very natural and positive step forward for Christine."
The couple even spent Christmas together in New York, the place where it all began. “They’re over the moon and excited for their future together."
Baumgartner filed for divorce from Kevin Costner in April 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Costner later admitted the split hit him hard.
