CANNES, FRANCE: Kevin Costner received a resounding standing ovation for his directorial comeback after 11 years, People reported.

 

The 69-year-old actor was visibly moved when his latest film 'Horizon: An American Saga' premiered at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, May 19, garnering a 10-minute standing ovation.

The actor-director also spoke about his experience alongside his seven children, expressing gratitude to the audience for their overwhelming support and for making him feel cherished. \Additionally, he expressed his belief that everyone would share his movie with their friends and families.

During the 77th annual film festival, the actor-director wiped away a tear after the enthusiastic response to his fourth-period drama. He delivered a memorable speech and expressed gratitude for his experience at the French Festival. 

Addressing the Cannes crowd, Costner joked, "I'm sorry you had to clap that long for me to understand that I should speak." 

He continued "Such good people, Such a good moment, not just for me, but for the actors who came with me, for people who believed in me, who continued to work." 

The actor added, "It's a funny business, and I'm so glad I found it. There's no place like here."

The 'Yellowstone' actor also expressed that his Cannes experience was particularly memorable due to the audience's response, his deep connection to 'Horizon', and the presence of his children, who stood by his side throughout the festival. 

Before receiving a standing ovation alongside his 'Horizon' castmates, he was already glowing with pride as he posed on the red carpet with five of his seven children, Annie, 40, Cayden, 17, Grace, 13, Lily, 37, and Hayes, 15 — who stars in the movie alongside his father.

The actor said, “I'll never forget this. Neither with my children. They all look so beautiful, dressed up so nice, the women, the men. They're so handsome"

Talking more about his passion project, Kevin Costner declared, “I made this. It's not mine anymore. It's yours. I knew that the minute this was over and that's what it should be. I think movies aren't about their opening weekends. They're about their life and about how many times you're willing to share it."

“And I hope that you do share this movie with your sweethearts, with your children. I feel so lucky. I feel so blessed — and there's three more."

With his voice trembling with emotion, the actor added, "There was no reason that this was gonna happen, and it's just another miracle in my life. Thank you for granting me your valuable time. I hope it was well worth it for you. Thank you."

'Horizon: An American Saga' is set to release this summer

Kevin Costner's 'Horizon: An American Saga' is scheduled for a theatrical release this summer, and will be presented in two chapters.

The film is "a multifaceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West."

Alongside Costner, the film boasts an extensive ensemble cast featuring Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Ella Hunt, Danny Huston, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Douglas Smith, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Michael Angarano, Jeff Fahey, Tom Everett, and Giovanni Ribisi.

Internet calls Kevin Costner a ‘beautiful human being’ 

After seeing Kevin Costner with teary eyes at the Cannes Film Festival, one social media user said, "So good to see!
