Kevin Feige says Tom Holland and Zendaya deserve 'restful victory lap' after Spider-Man success
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After taking 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' across the finish line, Tom Holland and Zendaya are preparing to slow down following months of global promotions, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
As the film achieved major box-office success, Feige reflected on its performance while sharing what comes next for the longtime collaborators and real-life couple. The milestone comes after the pair spent months traveling the world promoting both 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey.'

Feige reacted to the sequel's record-breaking performance in a new interview with Variety. The latest addition to the Marvel franchise now holds the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for a theatrical film, surpassing 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame.'
“There are always plans. But right now, he’s going to rest after that global tour,” he said when asked if another 'Spider-Man' installment starring Holland is in the works. “He and Zendaya are going to take a good and restful victory lap, which they very much deserve.”
The duo have spent recent months promoting both 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'The Odyssey', which was released on July 17. The pair have appeared together in the franchise since 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' debuted in 2017.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also starring Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' picks up years after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', with Peter Parker facing a new threat to New York City while his friends continue to have no memory of him.
According to multiple outlets, the film had grossed $360 million in North America and $932 million globally as of Monday, August 3. “It’s overwhelming, frankly, to find ourselves in this position on a Monday morning,” Feige said, adding, “In the very best way.”
Although he did not expect 'Brand New Day' to surpass 'Endgame's' opening weekend record, Feige celebrated the achievement, noting that Holland has now appeared in four of cinema's highest global opening weekends ever.

While attending the UK premiere of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' in London, Zendaya spoke about growing alongside Holland both professionally and personally.
Asked by MTV UK whether she had a lifelong friend in the industry she was grateful to have grown up with, Zendaya replied, “Well, Tom, obviously, my best friend, but being able to do these films with him is a privilege, and I love to be able to grow together and watch him. I mean, he’s the best.”
After years of maintaining they were close friends amid relationship speculation, their romance was publicly confirmed in July 2021 when they were photographed together. Two months later, Holland celebrated her 25th birthday on Instagram, writing, “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when you’re up,” to which she replied, “Calling now.”
Despite occasionally sharing glimpses of their relationship, Holland has emphasized keeping their private lives out of the spotlight.
“I don’t talk about it. I try my best to keep it as private as possible. We both feel very strongly that that is the healthiest way to move on as a couple,” he said during a July 2023 appearance on 'On Purpose with Jay Shetty.'
Zendaya echoed that sentiment in a separate interview with Elle, saying, “It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist.”
Holland also explained to Men's Health why he typically skips Zendaya's red carpets.
“Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he said for the magazine’s January-February 2025 cover.
