WASHINGTON, DC: Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) implied that President Joe Biden would have withdrawn his reelection effort sooner in a debate with independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr.

McCarthy claimed that the Democrats had banished Kennedy from their party and that Vice President Kamala Harris, who took over for Biden when he declared he would not run for reelection, would not have been the party's nominee in a contested primary.

Kevin McCarthy spoke on how Democrats treated Robert F Kennedy Jr

“And think about how the Democratic Party treated him,” Kevin McCarthy said of Joe Biden during his Friday night appearance on Fox News’ 'Jesse Watters Primetime'.

“They kicked him out. They wouldn’t even let him debate. Had he debated Biden, Biden would have collapsed a year earlier,” he continued. “They would have known, and the whole country would have known, Kamala had been lying the entire time about Joe Biden, but she could not won the nomination if she had to go through a primary. The only way she could become the nominee is the way they did it here.”

Joe Biden v Donald Trump CNN debate sparked concerns about POTUS' age

On June 27, Joe Biden and Donald Trump engaged in a CNN discussion. The president's performance throughout the ninety-minute presentation raised even more questions regarding his age because he stammered and had trouble pronouncing some of his sentences.

After his shaky performance, party officials and contributors pressured Biden to abandon his bid for a fourth term in the White House. Pre- and post-debate polls confirmed this attitude.

Robert F Kennedy Jr kicked off his 2024 White House bid as a Democrat

Robert F Kennedy Jr launched his Democratic presidential campaign in 2024. He quit the party to run as an independent in October, but his polling numbers dropped from the low double digits.

In Arizona on Friday, August 23, he declared his intention to halt his campaign and formally endorsed former president Donald Trump.

Kevin McCarthy says RFK Jr's endorsement of Donald Trump could have 'big' impact

Kevin McCarthy stated that Robert F Kennedy Jr's choice to back Donald Trump might have a "big" impact in battleground areas.

McCarthy was removed from his position as speaker of the House in October of last year when eight Republican House members sided with the Democrats in the lower chamber, per The Hill.

He said, "I mean Joe Biden won by 48,918 votes, and he was polling about nine points higher than where Kamala is polling today. So this could be the election. And think of the applause he got in that crowd,” he went on, alluding to Trump's campaign stop in Arizona, when Kennedy made his trail debut alongside the former president.

McCarthy continued, “And if you’re a Democrat, the Kennedy family is the closest there is to political royalty in that party. And it makes you wonder, would John F Kennedy be a Democrat today because of his positions were much different than the Democrat Party is today.”

Kevin McCarthy thinks RFK Jr should be on Donald Trump's plane at least once a week

Kevin McCarthy said that Donald Trump should have Robert F Kennedy Jr on his plane “at least once a week, and then have him going to other places the other days.” “And I think he would enjoy spending some time out there talking to American public,” he said.

The politician from California claimed that while Kennedy's inclusion wouldn't change the outcome of the election by a significant margin, it wouldn't need to because the contest is already anticipated to be close and the environmental attorney is well-liked by independent voters and those who are unhappy with the direction the Democratic Party is currently taking.

“I don’t think Kennedy is going to bring you 20 percent, but President Trump doesn’t need 20 percent, he just needs, last time, he only needed less than 50,000 votes,” McCarthy said on Friday.

“So this whole race really comes down to Pennsylvania and Georgia, when you’re talking that this could be less than 100,000 votes, but Kennedy attracts libertarians, independents, disgruntled Democrats,” he added.

"It's [a] great relief to know Kevin McCarthy is not in Congress," remarked one, while someone else wrote, "Kevin McCarthy is a retard."
