Kevin Spacey says he's not actually homeless, slams ‘knowingly misleading headline’
NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK: Actor Kevin Spacey addressed rumors about his living situation on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Spacey criticized British publication The Telegraph for falsely reporting that he was homeless following his interview with journalist Mick Brown, published under the title 'Kevin Spacey interview: Homeless, cancelled and crooning in Cyprus.'
The ‘House of Cards’ actor clarified that he was not homeless and described it as a “shame” that the publication undermined its own reporter with a “knowingly misleading headline for the sake of clicks.”
Kevin Spacey calls out publication for 'selling' out Mick Brown
In a two-minute video shared on X, Kevin Spacey addressed the false rumors stemming from his interview with The Telegraph. He said that during his conversation with Brown, he mentioned he was “basically living in hotels and Airbnbs.”
Spacey explained that he was “going where the work” took him, as he had done throughout his career. He added that he had been working “non-stop” and expressed gratitude for being able to continue doing so.
He distinguished his situation from those facing extreme hardship, stating that many people live on the streets or in cars under dire financial circumstances, but he was not one of them.
Spacey criticized The Telegraph for misrepresenting Brown’s reporting with a false headline, accusing the publication of “selling him out” despite knowing the truth.
Kevin Spacey thanks fans for showing him kindness
He began the video by noting he generally avoided correcting the media, as it left him little time for other matters. However, he felt compelled to respond because “thousands of people” had reached out, offering him places to stay and checking on his well-being.
Spacey thanked fans for their generosity but emphasized it would have been “disingenuous” to let them believe he was homeless. He concluded by expressing appreciation for the “kindness” fans had shown him.
What Spacey actually said while in conversation with Mick Brown
During the interview, Spacey said that while he had lived in Baltimore, Maryland, for 12 years, he did not currently have a permanent residence. He described financial challenges over the past seven years and a turbulent relationship with Hollywood.
Spacey revealed that he had previously lost his home but managed to get through it. While his belongings were in storage, he continued to travel for work. He said he hoped to settle down when circumstances improved.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain,” he said.
