LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian received backlash on social media for her hairstyle that some claimed mimicked the periwigs worn by American's Founding Fathers in the 1700s.

In multiple images posted on her Instagram on Sunday, June 23, Kim sported a silver hairpiece arranged into basket-weave pigtails.

Kim Kardashian unveils platinum blonde basket braid hairstyle

The 43-year-old beauty maven caused a stir on social media on Sunday when she posted multiple images to Instagram of her platinum hair done up in elaborate basket-weave pigtails.

Detractors quickly compared the look to powdered periwigs that America's Founding Fathers like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams wore, per Daily Mail.

The SKIMS founder posed with her new hairstyle, which had two intricately braided sections perched on either side of her head in the middle.

In the images, she wore basic nude leggings and a mesh tank top, going completely makeup-free, with her constitutional coif as the main feature of her ensemble.

Per Page Six, Kim's longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton was the creative force behind the 'American Horror Story' star's ground-breaking waves.

He proudly posted pictures of the celeb's contentious mane on his own Instagram account, including multiple link emojis in the caption. Appleton's online supporters were polite to him, even if Kim was made fun of for her hairstyle.

Fans compare Kim Kardashian's platinum braids to George Washington's

Trolls deluged the comments section of 'The Kardashians' star, criticizing the reality TV star for her colonial hairdo.

One follower commented, "She getting ready to write the declaration of independence."

A second remarked, "What in the constitution is going on here?"

"Founding fathers type wig," chimed in one, and another added, "Keeping up with the Targaryens?"

"It’s giving George Washington, slay version," another commented.

Another wrote, "What in the George Washington.."

One user quipped, "It’s giving George Washington goes to a rave," while another added, "It’s giving…founding father."

Someone else commented, mentioning Kim's study for the bar test and asking, "Did you steal a judge's wig from law school."

Some compared her weaving to that of a picnic basket, a "17th century judge", and other popular real-life and imaginary figures, such as Marie Antoinette, Queen Daenerys Targaryen from 'Game of Thrones', and Elsa from 'Frozen'.

"Looking very Marie Antoinette-let them eat cake-guillotine," commented one.

Another wrote, "Somebody get Daemon Targaryen."

Kim Kardashian previously faced backlash for unique braided hairstyles

'The Kardashians' star has experienced criticism for her braids before. She faced accusations of cultural appropriation in 2020 when she attended her then-husband Kanye West's Paris Fashion Week show sporting a tightly braided hairstyle.

Kim, who is half Armenian, came under fire after she posted a picture of herself on X, formerly Twitter, and many said she was stealing Black culture.

Kim previously expressed her anger when she wore braids that she referred to as "Bo Derek" in 2018.

However, several of her supporters hurried to her defense at that moment, alleging that fans were exaggerating a light-hearted message.
