ATLANTA, GEORGIA: ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ stars Kim Zolciak and her husband former NFL player Kroy Biermann’s children are subjected to a series of emotional turmoil because of the celebrity pair’s on-and-off relationship.

A source revealed the mental state of the couple’s children and said that because of the couple’s rollercoaster relationship, the children get their hopes high as the couple comes together only to get their hopes destroyed when they resume their fight.

The 'RHOA' stars, who are notoriously known for their messy break ups, are parents to four biological children - Kroy Jr, 12, Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 10. Biermann also adopted Zolciak’s two biological children Ariana, 22, and Brielle, 26, in 2013.

Per OK! Magazine, the couple, who got married in 2011, filed for a divorce in May only to call it off by July. However, in the next month, they again filed for divorce.

Though the couple filed a petition to end their marriage in August, Zolciak said in September that they were working to save their marriage.

However, Biermann later said he was still moving ahead with the divorce but admitted to still sleeping together.

‘The saddest part is how excited and hopeful the kids get’

Commenting on the difficult state of the couple’s relationship, the insider said, "The saddest part is how excited and hopeful the kids get, only to have the good times come crashing down again because the calm only lasts a little while.”

The insider continued, "It’s this toxic cycle where they get into huge, scary fights and then make up and things are good for a little while.”

"When things are good, they’re all over each other.” However, good times often don’t last long and the couple goes back into a state of contention.

'It’s sad for the kids'

During the pair’s contentious fight and divorce proceedings in June, an insider with knowledge of the couple’s state of relationship shared with OK! Magazine that their children are bearing the brunt of the messy relationship.

The insider shared then the children "are old enough to know what’s going on," before adding, "And they don’t like it."

The insider then shared the extent of their squabble saying that while they continued to live in their $2.5 million Georgia mansion, it wasn’t peaceful.

The source spilled, "Kim and Kroy are living in different sides of the home, crossing over in the kitchen yelling and screaming at each other in the night," before adding, "They both want the house and everything in it, including expensive art pieces and furniture. They’re even bickering over knickknacks.”

They continued, "The feeling among their friends is there’s no need for all this unpleasantness and they need to stop using their kids in their legal wrangling.”

Talking about the children’s stance, the insider added, "It’s sad for the kids, who are stuck in the middle of this mess."
