LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Royal sources say King Charles is 'not content' with only seeing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie and Lilibet, on video calls.

The King told friends that he is "keener than ever" to build a relationship with Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, as per DailyMail.

Notably, the monarch, who has been undergoing cancer treatment since February, claimed that he met the Sussex children only a handful of times since their birth.

He wants to "make up for lost time" amid the rift between Harry and the rest of the royal family over their alleged treatment of his wife, Meghan.

For King Charles family is above everything

Sources said that King Charles, who managed to attend the D-Day commemorations last week, sent Lilibet a "heartfelt gift and card" for her birthday.

A source said, "The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren's lives. He values family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call."

Harry, 39, and his wife Meghan, 42, have lived in Montecito, California, since they officially left their roles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020.

Tensions between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family have remained high, even throughout King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

While Harry traveled more than 5,000 miles back to the UK to visit his father after the news, the pair met for just 20 minutes.

He later told American broadcaster ABC, "I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that."

Despite his fractured relationship with Harry, Charles is reportedly a "fantastic and enthusiastic grandpa" to Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, five, sources say.

Queen Camilla, 76, is also understood to be a driving force behind his decision to increase efforts to see his other grandchildren.

Internet reacts as King Charles yearns to see Archie and Lilibet more often

After learning about Charles’ statements regarding his grandchildren, many social media users shared their perspectives.

One user said, “Meghan would bring the children over here if she was paid enough."

The other added, “Charles could always go over there and visit them. We don't want them or their grasping so called mother over here.”

The third user commented, “Like many families when a family member has a life-changing diagnosis it puts thing into perspective. Totally appreciate that Charles wants to see his grandkids as who knows what the future will bring. Life is too short for squabbles.”

The fourth claimed, “Children are often used as weapons.”

The last asserted, “Keep those kids well away from him.”
