Over their ten years together, Ben accompanied Herbstreit across the country, quietly becoming a symbol of companionship for the Herbstreit family and college football fans alike.
"He was with me more than anyone at home and traveling with me for work. Such an easy going companion. Hard day-but he will live within all of us forever. God please bless his majestic soul and thank you for putting him in my life for the last 10 years-a true blessing. Love you Ben,” he concluded.
Herbstreit had previously shared updates about Ben’s health struggles and asked fans for prayers and well-wishes as Ben received medical treatment for his cancer. Despite the love and support from family and fans, Ben’s condition took a turn for the worse.
