SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Korn Ferry Tour golfer Ryan McCormick taped his mouth shut to keep his temper in check while playing the second round of the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Georgia on Friday, April 4, reported Fox News.

McCormic has admitted facing anger management issues since he has been relegated back to the developmental this year after competing on the PGA Tour in 2024.

However, his new outlandish strategy did not help improve his game on Friday, as he shot a 72 and missed the cut by a few strokes. Entering at No 126 on the points list, his position is likely to drop further after the performance.

Ryan McCormick explains taping his mouth shut

In a video shared by the Korn Ferry Tour on social media, Ryan McCormick explained taping his mouth, saying, "Been having not-so-fun time this year on the golf course. Pretty angry and mad. I figured I've tried a lot of things, and I just figured I'd shut myself up. So, I put tape over my mouth."

"Just too angry on the golf course. I've run out of ideas, and I thought about the tape thing a couple of weeks ago," he continued. "So, just unfortunately, it came down to that today. I was hoping maybe it would help me. Can't say that it did or didn't."

The golfer said that he also wanted to create a better environment for his fellow competitors during the game. However, communication became more difficult after taping his mouth shut, especially with his caddie. To work around that, McCormick simply used pen and paper.

"Mostly just writing down the numbers," he noted. "I would just point and ask him for a read sometimes. It made things a lot simpler, I’ll tell you that."
