LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kourtney Kardashian is facing fierce backlash online after she took part in a protest against the dumping of hazardous waste from the January Palisades Fire at the Calabasas Landfill.

The 45-year-old reality star was accused of supporting the relocation of toxic fire debris from wealthy Calabasas to disadvantaged areas like Kettleman Hills and Buttonwillow after she was seen with a woman holding a controversial sign.

Kourtney Kardashian joined a protest on Thursday, February 27, to stop the disposal of wildfire waste at the Calabasas Landfill. The protest aimed to prevent potentially harmful debris from being stored close to residential areas where affluent communities reside.

In an interview, Kourtney explained, "We just want to make sure that it's not coming here, and that it goes to a place where there's no people around," according to AceShowbiz.

Images shared online, including on Kourtney's Instagram, showed the crowd holding signs reading, "Protect Calabasas No Toxic Fire Waste!", "Fill our hydrants, not our dumps!!!", "No Fire Waste in Residential Communities", and "Protect our health, protect our space—find a safer, better place!"

Kourtney defended the protest, stressing that Calabasas is a community focused on sustainability. She pointed out, "It is illegal to throw away batteries, for construction sites to dump any harmful asbestos or anything in our Calabasas Landfill."

However, one sign that stood out called for dumping the waste in Kettleman Hills and Buttonwillow, areas with less privileged communities, as per the Daily Mail

Kendra Wilkinson, who attended the protest, posted pictures but cropped out the controversial sign while also taking photos with Kourtney and the woman holding it.

In her caption, she wrote, "Protect Calabasas protest!!! Stop the toxic waste dumping around our schools and residential areas!!!"

Kourtney further explained the significance of their cause, adding, "In Calabasas, we are building the largest animal crossing in the state and possibly in the country. This trash site is only about a mile away from a corridor that we are building to ensure the health, well-being, and success of animal migration and insurance of not putting our local mountain lions in the threat of extinction and interbreeding. Once again, does this seem to make any sense to you?"

The protest came on the heels of LA County Superior Court Judge Stephen Goorvitch rejecting a temporary restraining order to halt the disposal of ash.

Days after Kourtney Kardashian shared a carousel of images from the protest, along with a lengthy explanation of its purpose, several of her followers were quick to criticize her.

One questioned, "So dump it in a poorer neighborhood?" Another stated, "It's 2025...it's time to protect the earth...not just calabasas. Think from a wider perspective darling....you can do better."

"So your solution is to dump it to less privileged cities?" a person asked, while someone else wrote, "God forbid Calabasas be slightly less comfortable. This is actually so disgusting."

"Kourtney, love you but you only speak up when it’s your neighborhood," a disappointed fan said.

"So disappointed. The desert you’re referring to is the town I live in. The antelope valley has a lot of family’s that call it home. I know we don’t have calabasses money, but our children deserve a healthy future just as much as yours do. Please think about this next time you offer up another town," a comment read.

One more wondered, "Should we dump it in the poor neighborhoods? Do those kids not deserve clean neighborhoods, clean air and water too?" while another person asked, "Okay fair, but what IS the alternative option of disposing this waist? Other poorer cities?!? The ocean? I would genuinely like to know…"

"So where would yall like your debris dumped? In a lower class area because their lives and children don’t matter as much as yours? I mean it obviously has to go some where. Protest all you want but what is your suggestion to a solution?" one more wrote.
